The sporting disciplines are more fun, and fewer stupid joystick wagglers compared to Summer Games, for example.
Multiload, so tape version requires you flip it.
My favorite item was biathlon.
Games like this aren't made nowadays.
Ok, I admit it: If you scroll down you'll notive that I complain about the absence of alpine skiing every couple of years. So here's something new: Ever noticed that this must be the only game in which Yugoslavia (where the actual Winter Olymics 1984 took place) shows up? You cannot choose Yugoslavia as a country, but Yugoslavian referees give marks in the respective events.
Ah yes, Yugoslavia... What a beautiful and progressive country that was... And how quickly time passes...
Right... I'm off to the shops
I would rate this as one of THE very finest games on the C64.
The graphics in the Biathlon event (along with the sound effects of the river) were astounding at the time.
This gets a solid 9/10 from me.
Snapped it doing the Biathlon lol.
World on 2nd, Summer 1 on 3rd and Summer 2 on 4th. Ski jump the most funny event. But why call that first event for "hot dog"??? It's Free style...
@Eshaktaar: Yeah, the landscape paintings are a piece of art.
@Dannie: I don't think so, check out the respective Zzap review.
@Roscoe: Almost a masterpiece, to be precise. It's a pity that Epyx didn't include any alpine skiing events (see below).
@Canute:
To admin: you guys made a mistake as this was released in 1986 on the C64.
All the best
Dan
A true masterpiece a game that you can play for ever.
10/10. I still remember 6 friends sitting near a C64 waiting for there turn to play, 20 years ago. That beats any mutiplaying experience for my money.
I remember the skishooting part was of those giving most thrills in the competion:
doing the joystick wrong once, you lost valuable seconds ...
LOL !
Bobslet is great, played it over and over again to advance my record.
My 6 year old played this recently on my PC and loved it. He has a Playstation 2 but still found this game extremely entertaining. Epyx just ruled this type of game. Beats the likes of hypersports and DT Decathlon.
I love this game, almost as much as World games
1. Winter Games 2. World Games 3. The Games - Winter Edition, 4. Summer Games II, 5. California Games, 6. The Games - Summer Edition, 7. Summer Games I.
10/10
where theres an event for everyone. Not as good as Summer Games but it was fun trying to get the top scores all the time!
