About as good a conversion as one could reasonably expect and probably one of the better games of this type on the C64. The levels are faithful to the original and it's very polished overall.

I never played the arcade, but I loved this conversion for sure! Colourful graphics, cool animations, fast gameplay, great music. It was a lot of fun and the difficulty was well balanced, even if on the easy side once you understood the fighting patterns. Would have been even better if you could play with 2 players simultaneously.

Pretty good conversion that unfortunately lacks a few of the arcade game's redeeming features- namely the multiplayer option and control system. C64 version is OK - the sprites are clear but small, music alright but the combat was very trying. Not sure if it's the case with each turtle character but as michaelangelo I found it difficult to execute moves without being constantly knocked down. More fun than Golden Axe though! Multi load was a bit of a drag and I'm so glad I got the code sheet with this eBay purchase, otherwise it would've been worthless.

This was OK with nine bold sprites and colourful backdrops. Could have done with the 2 player option though and the game itself was fun combat for a little while. It did get very difficult later on too. A competent arcade conversion. :melting:

I've recently played this for the first time, and have to say I can't understand the love for it.

They've done a decent job with the visuals, but the gameplay just doesn't hold up. The original coin-up was fast, frantic and fun. This is not. The one button joystick does a game like this no favours, the controls are not that responsive and the collision detection is appalling. And the game commits the ultimate beat-em-up sin of having enemies that will knock you down continuously and because of the timing of their attacks you don't have a chance of getting back up again.

The music is also so generic and dull.

Yet another poor arcade conversion on the C64.

Its pretty darn good! After the original tmnt 64 game I was not looking forward to what would happen to this conversion, but years later when I managed to buy it im impressed!

As a little boy I must have spent days looking at older guys putting guilder after guilder (Dutch currency at the time) into the arcade machine of this game at the local fair. When I finally got the chance to play it I found it very impressive, although I was dead within the minute. I remember reading about unlimited lifes cheats in C+VG which made you do all kinds of button and joystick moves in the right order, but it never really worked. :D However, I liked the game very much and that's why I really looked forward to playing the C64 version. I was a bit dissapointed to be honest. Although the graphics are pretty good and the tunes are very nice and suit the action well, the limited amount of moves and the sameness in the constant waves of food soldiers to battle make this game a bit repetative in the long run. Shame about the lack of the superb coin-up simultanious multiplayer option too. Still a descent Turtles conversion, heaps better than the earlier Turtles game.

Great Conversations in great details, fantastic fund graphics and the bosses music, the details of the arcade machine is one of the best beat em up of C64.

I was so happy when I finished this game for the first time. It is easy, but fun!

Back in 1992, I had to choose between TMNT and Bart Vs. The Space Mutants as my birthday gift. Well, I'm a proud owner of the original Turtles cassette.. :)

Much better than the original. Play this instead of that 1990 heap of dung.

Not a patch on the arcade version but it was never gonna be. :)

I was so delighted when I first played the game, more of what I wanted unlike the original C64 TMNT game. The graphics look really nice, the controls are average though. However, it's not frustrating and you should glide through it no problemo... Dude! Awesomemunga! ... Or something...

A really good conversion spoiled by the lack of a 2 player option.

This was a suprisingly accurate conversion of the arcade game. And I loved the (hero) turtles when I was a kid. Of course it's gone all 'ninja turtle' now, how times change!! Back then ninja was seen as being a bit too violently loaded term, see. The Nintendo turtls game was better than this though, (also on c64) as it was so damned surreal.

Great graphics and rapid action are a definite plus on TMNT: The Coin-Op, but clumsy controls and loose collision detection impair it considerably. The omission of the two-player option is a further issue. Sadly, to this day the C64 is missing a great arcade-style beat'em up in the vein of Cadillacs and Dinosaurs. :|

This game ruled in italy, in 90' I play along with it, when I was 10!

Big fan of this game in the arcades. Totally silly, completely manic, and 100% fun. That doesn't hold true for the Commodore 64 conversion unfortunately.

I played this game all the time when I was young! I really have to get myself a new C64 and this game! It RULES!!
Fraser 2004-01-10
Oh my god! This is game is the best in the whole ****** world!!!

This game ROCKS! Fast-paced action, challenge, great music (which is no surprise, considering that it's made by Maniacs of Noise)... Just a few more things (simultaneous two-player action, a bit better graphics) and it would be perfect. But still absolutely worth getting!

The best C64 battle game! If u don't like this u are really stupid! :-D

Teenage mutant ninja turtles this guys kick butt. I love them since I was a young kid and I still do. The game is cool.
adam 2002-06-24
Turtles ruled! As did this game. It takes you through steets, buildings, dam, drive in the waggon, fight all the bad guys from the cartoon. In short, this game is excellent, unless you don't like turtles. Then I would imagaine it would suck!

Suretainly a great game. But just a bid to easy! I finished the game the 3th time I played it
