The box art made this look amazing. The gameplay was entirely a let down. Accolade in 1991 was capable of SO MUCH MORE than this.

Though the game boasts a sort of campaign mode with a bit of strategy involved, it is mainly about the one-on-one ship duels. These are fun with two human players, but rather boring on your own. Not the best game Accolade ever released, but fortunately more than made for by the utterly brilliant (but sadly PC only) sequel.

Slightly Disappointing version of a game that was absolutely fantastic on the PC. Spent MONTHS playing the PC version. Hardly ever are the 2 opposing 'forces' as well balanced as they are in Star Control. Each ship has strengths and weaknesses. Playtesting must have been total genius.
