I am actually impressed with this port! I remember seeing that there was a C64 conversion of Smash TV back in the day and scoffing at the idea of the game being any good. Perhaps I was burned by too many rushed arcade conversions in the 90s. Now that I have played it I can see that my skepticism caused me to miss out on a fun game.

As a fan of the arcade original, the C64 conversion of Smash T. V. Was a day-one purchase for me. It doesn't have the speech samples and graphical splendour of the original but the same excellent gameplay with tight controls and nonstop shooting action. Playing it arcade-style with two joysticks is a must if you want to find out what makes this modernized Robotron variant so addictive. 9/10.

Never a huge fan of the arcade game, but this is a good enough conversion.

My head almost exploded out of rage when I realised that it is a 1 player only game, otherwise the GFX and gameplay are very well transfered. I have the tape version and the loading music kicks a$$

I think this is one of the best shmups ever developed, really a fun, fast paced game. The C64 version is very good but I like the arcade version better.

Totally braindead shooter but fun for a short while as it got a little repetitve for me. Nice GFX and funky title music though. :|

Arcade was awesome, but C64 version has some bad controls. Not bad, although.

I really don't like Smash TV (arcade version or otherwise). Although I do have a lot of respect for this conversion, I really don't think it could have been done any better. There loads of stuff flying around the screen and it all looks really good & sounds good too. So all in all, a great conversion of a not so hot game :)

I remember buying this on holiday and having to wait until the family got back home to play it. It was worth the wait! Ace blast-o-rama that requires skill, luck, instinct and two hands to play properly (none of that "shoot the way yer facing" for me).
