Having played 720* and Skate Rock every week I was curious to check out the latest game on the market.
Right off the bat the presentation is great with some synthesised guitar riffs and detailed artwork that also conveyed the attitude of skating. My fave events were Half-pipe freestyle, Downhill Jam and the Jousting (two player)
Skate or Die is a fun game that has some variety and can be quite competitive when playing with a friend. For sure one of the best sports games on the commodore.
9/10
To this day, this game pops up at our annual retro gaming championships (an ancient circle of friends), mostly the High Jump event. Years ago a friend set a 15'8" record, I stand at 15'6". Anyone seen better scores at High Jump?
At any rate, the gameplay here is top notch, and there's something for everyone. You may not like all the events, but you will like some of them. A lot.
To this day I still randomly tell people "Secret path in downhill jam! "
Unfortunaly the SID tune is corrupt, the tempo is too fast.
A true 10/10
directions. If only modern gamemakers would understand what IS playability. But no. Sigh.
Luckily we have all these old classics.
Great game, will never forget it!
Worth downloading for the music, amazing
digitised music for the time, listen to that SID chip sing!!
