Raid on Bungeling Bay

Simple, addictive, well designed and thought out. The mix of offense and defense adds a lot of tension. I played this one a lot even though I had no idea what to do other than bomb the factories. Still an example on how to make things fun. No need for flashy graphics when the action is this good. Dreamed of remaking it on the Amiga or PC. Apparently, the NES version is great too.

One of these games I used to play without having any idea what I really should do. Now we have internet and now I know, makes the game even more fun!

That cover always freaked me out! Still does but especially in the 80s with the added threat of nuclear war always being mentioned in the UK.

Another absolute classic. Gameplay, graphics, sound, atmosphere - and a deceptive level of difficulty which sneaks up on you as the game progresses. It maintains your interest as the game goes on with the action becoming increasingly frenetic. For those of us old enough to remember, it has an opening very much reminiscent of the movie "Blue Thunder"! 10/10.

Superb gameplay and fun, escpecially try to sink the destroyer. His seeking missiles are hard to escape sometimes even with light damage and finishing the game is also sometimes hell

Awesome game. Definitely a favorite. Stellar gameplay. And yes, those planes are a pain in the $#%*@!

Damn, this game is so old, but it still has some of the toughest enemies I've ever faced in a shoot 'em up. Trust me, these bastards will make you shit your pants. Seriously, great and challenging game. If you haven't played it before, do it now. 10

Great awesome game. I loved to play this back in '85 and I love to play it now.
After bombarding a couple of factories the game get's really hectic.

Great fun to play, rather like a top-down version of the Amiga's 'Zeewolf' in the concept: fly a helicopter around, taking out ground targets, boats, and aerial threats. Not mission based, like Zeewolf, so no nice little rests.

I loved this game! I used to try and get different newspaper write ups on your victory when you finish the game. The ending newspaper write up on your victory would be different based on how many choppers you had left... I think I finished the game without losing any choppers and just having one chopper. I think I even tried to finish the game by blowing up the last factory while losing the last chopper... Don't know if I was successful doing that though. Overall, a fun game!

I really loved the game, but I could never finish it. After a few factories, it just got too hard. What did you players who finished it do to survive after the 4th factory?

One of the classics on the 64 simple gameplay, simple graphics but long lasting quality game play keeps you coming back for just 'one more try'

Fantastic seek-and-destroy heli flight-shmup, good graphics and very smooth scrolling, loved it a lot. Fighting against the large battleship was big fun, just like bombing factories and taking care of ground targets. Will Wright did wonders with the physics of the heli, controls are perfectly implemented and very easy to get into. A must-have for shmup fans. 8/10.

I thought this was a cool game when I was a kid and still do. I didn't know the object of it, I just liked flying around blowing stuff up. Interesting connection with Sim City. I can see the similarities.

For some reason it took me dozens of games and many weeks to finally be able to beat this game... Ever since, I could beat it easily every time. Even when I finally dusted it off and gave it a go after 18 years I was able to beat it the first time. Great game though!

In my top 5 of all time n I agree, the score is way too low. Scrolling in all directions, heat seeking missiles chasing you, a whole ship after you, radio messages... Cant get any better... This game was way ahead in time.

Who could of thought, 16 years later, Will Wright would create the best selling PC Game of all time! The Sims!... Raid on Bungeling Bay just gave us a sniff! ... Akthought both games are nothing like each other today!

This was one of the first games I ever played on the C64. Loved it. Kind of an early version of the Desert Strike series (sort of).

This is definately one of those games where it is important to develop a plan of action. I remember that it was pretty crucial to destroy the factories in the correct order.

ScottC is right (at least according to the book "HighScore"... The guy was Will Wright (as you can see on the left ;-D ) of Sim City and The Sims Fan ... This was his first Masterpiece ... Doesn't look astounishing ... But game play is addictive and gives you the "just more
time"-thrill ... If you don't know it ... Try it ...

The guy who did the graphics for this built an in house editor app to do so. This in-turn, was eventually modified to became one of the biggest classics ever - SIMCITY!

This was definalty a fun game the only problem with it is that it only had that 1 level. You destroy all the factories, u get a ride in the vicotry car back home and thats it. Still worth playing though b/c it'll take u a while 2 finish that level.

This is classic C64 stuff. Simple but effective. Not to ambitious like a lot of C64 games tried to be.

Bland looks, but a frantic game.

A true classic that easily desrves to be in the top 50... This and Stunt Car Racer.

I remember seeing this game advertised on a program one time after id just finished skool, and said there and then "i want that"
Eventually when I got a copy of it I couldent stop playing it, an excellent game... Just watch out for those pesky planes and missiles...

My favourite C64-Game! An excellent and challenging Shooter with extreme agressive Enemies and well programmed Flight Physics. Beware of the Enemy Battle Ship! Completed it one Time without dying!

Really good shoot-em-up. Played this for ages but never completed it. Great fun bombing the battleship just before it was finished! Pretty tough though. Well worth a download.
