I tried this for the first time in 2013 and was very disappointed. I played what I believe was the exposition -- started out on a spaceship, crash landed, went exploring a compound of buildings. Up to this point the game was incredibly dull and badly designed. There was really nothing you could do except type "WAIT". Any attempt to interact with the environment or NPCs would lead to nothing. Arbitrary death at some point, had to start over. A real chore. No clever puzzles and not even any good jokes. Is it just me or is the game extremely overrated?

Any fan of text adventures should try Planetfall, if only to meet and know your in-game sidekick Floyd, go through the game with him... And come to the ending. Without giving anything away, it really showed the great writing in these games and how its so lacking in games nowadays.

Superb adventure that was a pleasure to play, you never felt lost although the game itself was not easy, very atmospheric indeed. This is my favourite Infocom game.

By far, Infocom's best game.

Planet Fall was in my opinion one of the best text based games of the 1980's. The only competition for that title being Dragonfall. Great humor and puzzles that make sense. This game even made you have to eat. Regretably, the sequel Stationfall did not live up to this great game.

Of all those text based adventure that came out during the 80's this one was the best. Filled with humor, mystery and a touch of pathos this game was Infocom's finest moment. The puzzles were challenging and integrated into the story flawlessly. Great Game!
