This was two quid, two quid for a game miles better than tat being released for a tenner. Fiendishly difficult and with a built in editor to create your own nightmare levels. Easily one of the best budget games released on the 64.

Loved the original but this took the idea to a new level and was a game that my friends and I used to love playing. The inclusion of the track editor was a stroke of genius and elevated it to one of the best value budget games available.
That said I'd have happily paid full price for this game as it was so good.
Had a retro games night with some friends recently and this was still one of the most enjoyable two player games.
Nice one Shaun Southern you made an all time classic that's still a blast to play and is still bringing joy 4 decades later.

Back in the day I was handed a cassette tape with some game titles written in sharpie across the front. I loaded up the first game - Ikari Warriors, yes! Next was the mighty Giana Sisters, probably my fave platform game on the commodore. Then came Kickstart II, I didn't know what to make of it at first, sure the music got annoying fast and the graphics while decent were nothing special. However after playing for a while I realised this is a deep trials game (by C64 standards)
You have a ton of stages, massive variety of obstacles, and what blew my preteen mind- A track editor! Yeah buddy!

I've mentioned a few times what great value the Mastertronic games were. None more so than Kikstart 2. The graphics got a complete overhaul so it looked much nicer. There were different obstacles to navigate as well as the favourites from the last game. If that wasn't enough there was also a course designer. I'm still wondering how they got all this into just 64k of memory. A current generation console game is around £50 by todays inflation Kikstart 2 would retail at £4. 09 from it's original £1.99 price tag. Not bad given that it gives you more than some of the garbage released today.

I remember this game has a 3rd part - with 2 rider guys in the title srceen. A hack or an unofficial release?

God, something about the games written by this chap really appealed to me as a kid, and still do now some 20 years on. (they all seemed to be time based reaction games that were just so addictive, and still are)
One of my all time favs. And more importantly was clearly the inspiration for my all time fav game ever, Trials HD.
Anyway, kickstart 2 is a real gem. Tricky, skillful, addictive.

I remember when I played with a friend and then we both got toasted in the flames at the same time we yelled "Grillad! " that means "Toasted! " in english :D

Love this game in 2 player.

It may sound funny but this was the first AMIGA game I played and I was fascinated by the music. Anyway, I think the first game was original and fun to play, and this one improves on it.

The snow covered mountains on the title pic explain the presence of ski jumps :)

MUCH better than Kikstart I, never boring and with an easy-to-handle track editor.

The graphics are really good and simulate the atmosphere (day, night, winter).

This IS worth a 10, although I might be blamed of upvoting any game I personally like.

Great to play against a friend with this one. And catchy music. Quite addictive to play and create your own tracks and then race your friends on.

A wonderful neo-baroque tune! Nicely crafted both melodically and timbre-wise, and catchy. Incredible high quality through out. Classic stuff.

A true gem from Mastertronic, but it's no surprise when you notice the coder - Shaun Southern. Excellent construction kit is included too for making your own tracks. Another game that suits even better for two human players then one.

Looks a lot nicer than the first one, not surprisngly as it was a few years later. The game itself was as playable as the first outing but the cool thing was the construction kit. I remember making courses full of those big slalom type things and just going mental on them! Oh, and they ehanced the Kikstart theme. :)

Spent many hours playing this and using the construction set. Got my money's worth out of it a million times over. That gay sounding cry when you crash is one of the classic C64 comedy moments. Unless your opponent suddenly zooms past you and pip you at the post.
B.Hicks 2004-06-03
I had a cracked version on my C64 and I remembered I had a helluvalottafun building impossible tracks... The construction set is idiot-proof and funny, the simultaneous playing will help you during a lot of rainy sundays... 9/10

Also an excellent game. This is also among my favourite games for the 64. The graphics were very good and smooth. The sound was very good and the game play was decent.
Ahmad 2003-12-17
Kikstart II is a lot better than the 1st Kikstart because in this one you can create your own course. As unfortunitly I don't play it because it doesn't not load the game on my C64, I wish I had it, but I still remember it. Classic game, good music, good sounds and graphics. I'll give this one 10/10.
tekopaa 2003-12-11
Superb game -->play with your friend and have double joy :-)
Roger Messner 2003-11-30
This was indeed a fun game! There was a series of Gameboy games designed by Konami called "Motocross Maniacs". Those games seem to have been inspired by Kickstart, which was realeased years before "Maniacs". Loved the track editor!
Kriko 2003-11-09
Still worth playing after all these years... Brilliant!
eightbit 2003-09-06
This game really rocks. This is one of the best 2 player game on the C64. The gameplay is easy and makes a lot of fun to see how your friend starts crying arround. Hehe :)
kaspasian 2003-08-27
I remember the terrible scream (buaaaaauuu!) of the bikers, it's make me smile like a crazy child! Two players mode is the best (double scream - buaaaaaauuu!)
Colin Baynham 2003-06-30
Great game, cool sounds and graphics. Track designer good.
Balage 2003-06-21
Rocks!!! ;-)

Damn fine game. Loved the track designer, got a disk full of 'em somewhere
HG 2003-04-28
Brilliant game made even better! Better music, better graphics, gameplay equally good with the first part. In-game- editor is a splendid idea and easy enough for almost anyone to use. I definetely recommend this one.
Onikage 2003-04-13
Awesome race game. Hours of two player fun. Plus, the construction set. You could make you own tracks. 10/10

One word for this game: "Sweeeeeeeeeeet! "
Lemonope 2003-04-07
In this one is twice as better than the original. Better gameplay, better graphics, Night and snow Courses etc and this was fun playing 2 players. A Classic!
Fever Rock 2003-04-01
Many great hours spent playing this amazing game. Improving the great original. Great two player action too.
TWR 2003-03-05
As usual... After a GREAT game comes a sequel !!! But this one is so similar to the first part that it's also fun as hell !!! And the level editor makes it eaven more complete !!!
rudo 2003-02-27
I don't have to tell you all that this is a great game, but what you might want to know is that the in game music was in the charts in the seventies. The song is called 'be my boogie woogie baby' by an artist known as mr. Walkie talkie.
gm 2003-01-15
I think it's worth 8/10 and much better than the first Kik-Start. Two Player mode is very funny
Jake 2003-01-05
This C64 game brings back old memories of me and my friend playing it. It's a good game, goes back far for me. It has a one or two player option, it's fun to play either way. The only minor complaint I have is that the graphics are weak and some courses are too difficult. I give it ...
7/10
Mika 2003-01-05
Great fun for two players :)
Rob Bailey 2003-01-05
Its with teary eyed nostalgia that I remember the times when friends came around and we made tracks all day and play tested them. We must have replaced the entire collection twice over! Even my little brother who's 11 loves it. The whiny tune in-game rivals action biker, but Southern's melodies at the title screen are simply magical. It makes for a very intimate biking experience.
jon 2003-01-05
Below average, even for a budget game
Jens 2003-01-05
This game did rokk, was and still is (besides outrun and testdrive) the only moto game I play. :)
Henrik 2002-11-28
Hehe Right now, I'm just playing the original game on my C-64 (no joke). Damn it rulez. My wife see me as a Big Child Right now.
jimatlod 2002-11-28
A classic - only £2 as well!!

better than the first game
fizza 2002-10-21
Just like Kikstart I but better! The level editor was a brilliant addition to the game. Played this quite a bit back in the day.
blagger 2002-10-19
A gem. Simple and playable. Brilliant music as well. Difficult, but definitely worth the effort.
LeeT 2002-10-11
Probably THE best budget game for the C64 - It was definetly worth its money and still would be today for a tenner!
O.Virell 2002-09-20
There's no way around it, this really belongs to the all-time-greats. It's a shame that so few people seem to now about this. I played it for years, alone or with different opponents. And oh God, the level-editor! I must've saved hundreds of levels on tapes! And since there was no save-options for the record times, I had a notebook full of weird track-names and times... Yeah!
Andy K 2002-06-02
A gem. Best 2 quid I ever spent!
Truss 2002-03-11
Another one of these games I overlooked in the shop. Finally, when I decided to buy it, I were playing it all the time. -A Great game for an even better price at that time. Surely, a MUST!
Tomsk 2002-03-10
I totally agree with Craig on this one. I still play it now and since I've gotten my comp pro working it's even better !!!
Sout was a very underrated programmer - this could have easily been full price instead of 2. 99. Down load it now !
Cheeley 2002-03-06
I loved this game, although the music did grate after a while. The level designer prolonged the life of it indefinately. Great for 2 player gaming, especially for the comedy 'woooo! ' noise made when the rider fell which helped you to rub your friends nose in it :)
Fered 2002-02-26
Oh my god! I had made hundreds of levels for this one! It was one of the best C64 games EVER!
Craig Grannell 2002-01-27
One of the best C64 games ever. That might sound over-the-top, but it's one of maybe five C64 games that I still play today every now and again. It also manages the trick of being playable in single-player mode (unlike, say, Spy vs Spy). Sure, the graphics and sound aren't great, and some of the tracks are frustrating, but it's always worth another go.
Alex Aslanidis 2002-01-23
Extremely addictive little race game, but it's just too difficult. A split-screen option allows a friend to join making for more fun. And then you can design your own levels with the level editor. Needs patience, but ultimately rewarding.
MattSid 2002-01-07
I love this game! The music of this game is incredible! THX SHAUN SOUTHERN!
