I got this for Christmas as a present played it and then complained that it wasn't good enough to my mom. What a little brat I was! But seriously, I tried to play this with my friends, but we couldn't figure it out. We could handle the entire spellbook section of Bard's Tale and make maps together, but we couldn't even play a single game of football with this. I liked other sports simulation games too, so it wasn't just a "not enough action" problem. I think I just gave this away, or maybe we took it back to the store. I've always told people I played the first game in the series and it sucked.

I remember buying this and throwing it away. It took so long to do one play. Crap.

While I'm amazed at how this series continues to evolve, this was the tops in football at the time, adding more strategy than any other marketed game.
It would take many incarnations on platform systems to catch up with the strategy elements and extras this game added, such as a play maker, coaches books, etc.
Upon JMs arrival to platform systems, the eye-candy got better, but the heart of JM would take many takes to get to this level again. The graphics on this game are pretty sad, but the heart and soul of JM are here and already ahead of their time.

I really loathe to admit it, but this was a horrible representation of a brilliant PC work. Still, it is interesting to trace back the world's most popular sports' title to this embryonic form!
