As a budget game it just about gets a pass as its playable and offers a long term challenge. It is very repetitive though. Graphics and sound are fine but there are better games in the genre.

Every single thing in this game is wrong. The sprite looks like a ghost, the sound of shooting is after the player has given a shoot, one bullet kills all the enemy soldiers... Weak and sluggish game. Personally I think that the game is overrated.

Pretty laid-back shoot-'em-up, where the focus is set on searching, mapping and puzzle solving. That's not my cup of tea, but may suit a rainy weekend. Graphics and sound are OK but could be better. 5/10

This could have been a nice game, even though it's slow and kind of boring. What completely ruined the gameplay, though, is one of the stupidest ideas I've ever met in any game. After using the key it disappears, but the door - when you try to go through them one more time - remains closed. Of course the key is nowhere to be found. Result - after playing for some time I got stuck in a part of the game's maze with no possibility to get out of it. Oh yes, I forgot to mention, that you can't see if the door's closed or not when the entrance is on the bottom of the screen.

1. 99 back in the day wasn't bad for games such as this. It had nice, bold GFX and addictive enough to find all those bombs and hostages. :)

I have this on disk as well as tape.

The tape version is on the reverse side of a copy of Azimuth 3000 I found in an abandoned C2N, and I've seen CPC versions with this combination of Azimuth/Joe Blade too.

The disk version is an Australian release by ECP. It's a blister pack. The cover is a square of yellow paper with the Cassette cover cropped and blown up in the middle. But most of it is yellow. Rather ugly.

It's games like this which made me hate Players when I was a kid.

I like most of their games now, but I still hate this. Walk very slowly, very randomly, shoot because you have to, bad guy turns into a pink skeleton for some reason, that about sums it up.

Joe Blade... Yet another maze game. What fun! Yes, I hate C64 maze games. The enemies don't shoot you, and the game has other strange "features".

Had too laugh when I saw this, forgot I had it, what a load of crap. Bazzokaa Bill a lot better.

Considering it was a 2 quid budget title, I thought it was pretty decent. Nothing awe inspiring, but it whiled away an hour or two of my life.

With simple childish graphics and poor sound this is a pure shit-game. A game-play that lasts for about 30 seconds !!!

Great game but I never finished it :(

There was a time when I loved this game, but then I broke the tape and couldn't play it anymore. Looking it now it's a piece of...
