This was always one of my favourite games, on the C64, on the Atari ST and also on the Amiga. Or, especially on the Amiga, because that version I liked much. But also on the C64 it's a good and funny game. Thumbs up for this one.

IIRC the music was very powerful and great. Sound FX too - then Chris Hülsbeck was a SID wizard capable of making pure magick for the audio senses.

Curiously enough, I had the Milestones disk set, which featured random opponents. Makes it all a bit more fun, just as you imply.

It's strange just how difficult many C64 games were. A shame!

A game vibrant with detail and a brilliant backup-story. I just love when the Beloms hit the monitor pane wide-eyed and slide down slowly. They really earned their "revenge"!

There really was something like AI in his game - the character of the opponents was very distinguishable. Too bad that I bought the tape version (Milestones collection, like viceroy), because that one always gave you the same enemies.

The final round gets close to beeing unfair in difficulty, since the opponents all use their type of magic, knocking you off more often, shooting beloms from where they did not stand or blocking parts of your side from access.

The graphics of this game are very colourful and look great – unfortunately the loading times are quite long! Furthermore the sub-game, in which the player has to defend himself against the many vengeful Beloms, is very frustrating. The degree of difficulty is very hard, too...
But apart from that, ‘Grand Monster Slam’ is a very entertaining and fancy sports game...

This one was pure fun. @TWR: As identical to the Amiga version as can be. By the way, the only sports game I can think of that has no two-player-mode.

Never played the 64 version actually, only gave the Amiga version a few shots back in the early 90's... The game it self gained quite some reputation and was promoted hard and accurate. Is it good on the 64 ??? If you want to swap 64 wares (incl. This one) mail me at [email protected]

Allstar! I give Grand Monster Slam 9 of 10 for Chris' music, backed up by great graphics and innovative gameplay. Unfortunately the game got pretty tricky when you played a while. I remember a part where you had to kick those Tribbles into some sort of container, awww. I failed everytime and sometime bit into my knee for fury.

This one almost makes me cry because of the nostalgy.
I had this bought in a 4-piece set called MILESTONES (the other three were HARD'N'HEAVY, CIRCUS ATTRACTIONS and SPHERICAL - a very fine quartet indeed). The set included a fine poster of the title screen, which I off course hung on my wall. Oh! It's all diamonds!
