Graphics: 9 ‧
Music: 9 ‧
Playability: 10 ‧
Overall: 9
I played it to bits back then and I still love it today. Keep wanting to reach another level, not just to see it but also very much to hear it! :-)
The Amiga conversion is faithful, and although some might complain the graphics are more or less the same, I think both pretty much rock their individual machines.
I like both versions. Only tried C64 one once or twice times. But I like the music more then the Amiga version
8 out of 10 - C64 and Amiga versions
Fiendishly difficult though!

Freddie is not supposed to be Freddie Mercury. The name just sounded cool.
The character design and game play came about from a mix of our design, and a guy we had partnered with named "Vince Sorensen" who had written a Vic-20 game called "Panic City". Without Panic City there would be no Frantic Freddie.
The music was ... Ah... "inspired" by songs Greg, his brother Brian, and I listended to. The music system was really more Greg than me. He really showed me how to take my programming to the next level, and it's really because of him I wrote a lot of video game music and music drivers later on for DSI and Electronic Arts. I remember how painfull it was to enter the music; we did it as a series of hex paris, one value being the note, the next being the time for each track. There was a lot of toe tapping figuring out the timing. ;-)
The Amiga version, although flattering, never gave Greg or I credit. That made me sad.
I think the graphics are 9 out of 10 so there. ;-) We actually had to write our own sprite editor because there just wasn't a good one at the time.
