Dragon Spirit is probably my favorite vertical shooter. Unfortunately, this does not apply to the C64 version, as Domark really dropped the ball here. If you want a good experience with this title, try the arcade and PC Engine versions, as well as its sequel Dragon Saber.

The C64 version of this game is really not the best, in my eyes. I really like this game on the Arcade and also alot on the PC-Engine console and i think, the C64 port also could be made alot better, when you compare, what some other shooters offer, on this 8bit system. Maybe there will be a good port of "Dragon Spirit" on the C64 too, sometime in the future? That would definitely be great.

Pretty linear vertical shooter with weak GFX and sound. Zzap got the review spot on.

I like Dragon Spirit, but not on the C64.
A poor conversion indeed.

Below-average port of a nice Namco vertical shmup. Graphics look horrible, even to those who are not familiar with the visually splendid arcade original. The only two things which help the C64 version from being a total failure is the more balanced difficulty compared to the tough-as-nails arcade game and the extra weapons. However, if you take a closer look on the graphics and backdrops, you won't believe that this game came out in 1989. Gameplay is not too bad, at least there are lots and lots of different baddies and bosses (large dragons) to dispose of. Still, if you are not a hardcore C64 shmup'er who needs to play them all, avoid DS and try Warhawk, Terra Cresta or Slap Fight to get your vert shmup fix. 4/10.

One of Domark's better releases - and you may interpret that anyway you like...

Well, this is a grotty game. While the game itself isn't too bad, the programming is. Not only are the graphics poorly defined, but sometimes the enemy bullets are invisible resulting in the opening of Instant-Death-In-A-Can. Add to your avoid list.

A pretty imaginative game, which looks a bit like a speccy game. Pretty poor :(
