Taken on its own merits without comparison to other ports its an OK lite strategy game with nice icons but poor 2D arcade sections that drag down the product as a whole.
Not terrible, not great...

Nice attempt considering the 64's limitations but as I had played this on the Atari ST it was a huge disappointment! Manta and Walrus sections are lame. Incidentally I believe this was the last 64 game I bought before getting an Atari ST myself (and then getting to play the good version of this game).

@ LeC64win

The ZX Spectrum version is more faithful to the 16-bit original because it has the 3D sections. Unlike the C64. It is highly regarded within the Spectrum scene.

You call Carrier Command 'pretty faithfull to the 16 bit' on the ZX Spectrum for crying out loud? Sorry dude, but you need your eyes checked or something.

Yawn Amiga.. Yaaawn ZX Spectrum.. I didn't came to Lemon 64 for those systems. And ofcourse the graphics of Carrier Command look better on the Amiga. It's a 16-bit computer with more colors man! I will check the C=64 version anyway, no matter what other computer versions are like. :P

One of those 3D games from the 16 Bits which required more CPU power.
Good and pretty faithful conversion from the 16 Bits to the Spectrum, though.

Been playing this a lot on Amiga, and I prefer the Amiga version, graphics and sound's a bit better.. But, the game in itself is still extremmely good! You're in charge of a carrier, carrying super-high-tech fighter planes and boats. You have this gigantic ocean area with friendly, neutral and enemy islands and your job is simply to make all islands friendly. The distance between the islands and the speed the carrier moves are both created very realistic.. Travelling between the pretty large amount of islands is without doubt what makes the game such a long and timetaking task, but it is one of the main things I love about it. There's always something that needs repairs and you'll have plenty of time to fuel up your planes and boats while preparing and planning your next attack on the enemy when arriving an island. Superb game if you like a bit of good old strategy..

After playing on Amiga I went out and got it for the C64 no 3d, but still a good game...

I never knew this was made for the C64. I always wanted it as a kid. Was it any good?
