Aaargh! What a name for a game. It seems the programmers were having too much fun during the development. And given the quality of it, it could've easily been Aaaargh, Aaaaaaaargh or even Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh.
Here we have another coin-op conversion that doesn't work. You could choose between playing with an ogre or a dragon and your mission is to travel through various cities stomping the buildings and collecting eggs and hamburgers. You also have to compete against the other character which is controlled by the computer. Well the arcade version wasn't anything to get excited about, and this conversion is even worse.
To successfully convert an arcade it is necessary to preserve the gameplay intact and aim for the best graphics possible. Alas, this was (apparently) too much to expect, as here we have neither. Although the backgrounds are not bad, the sprites and the animation are lousy. Everything moves around like a drunken lush. The controls are not responsive and the game is not only monotonous, but also very difficult. The sound effects are sub par too.
Unfortunately, they made the unwise decision to let the notoriously inept developer Binary Design handle this conversion. Those bozos took all of the elements that had made Aaargh! a passable arcade and bludgeoned them mercilessly until all that was left was an unrecognisable, joyless mess.

| GRAPHICS - 5/10 |
The backgrounds are quite good but the sprites and the animations suck.
| | SOUND - 4/10 |
The intro tune is OK, although a bit repetitive. There is no in-game music, just sound effects, which are pretty lousy.
| | PLAYABILITY - 1/10 |
With such hunting prowess no wonder ogres or dragons don't exist anymore.
| | OVERALL - 2/10 |
To simply call Aaargh! bad would be a major understatement. Here we have a game that takes it to new heights and puts the needle on the Suck-O-Meter far into the red.
