Starquake 1986, Bubble Bus
You are "Blob" (Bio-Logically Operated Being) and you were chosen to save a planet fated to destruction. You must find parts of the planet's core which are scattered all through the planet and fix it before it goes kaboooooom!! Many aliens who inhabit the planet will plague you and 'zappers', broken bottles and spikes threaten to blow you to pieces at every turn but you must be brave...the safety of a planet and, in fact, the universe lies in your hands.

As you search the planet for the missing pieces of the core you have the choice of either exploring on foot or on a hovercraft of some sort. There are, of course, some places you can't get to on foot and vice versa but you get the idea. To move upwards without the hoverplane Blob has the ability to create his own platforms which last for a short period of time. He also has a supply of ammunition to blast the aliens which appear randomly on every screen. To make exploration easier there are a great number of hovercraft pads and 15 teleports, each with different codes, scattered strategically around the 512 screens of play. (You can find these codes on the internet but you'll lose a major enjoyment factor if you don't do your own exploring.)

Blob can carry up to 4 items at a time before he must either drop something or head back to the core of the planet, which is located near one of the teleports, and add the pieces. Blob can only pick up and put down pieces when he's on foot. There are also features such as security doors, which require the security card or matching numbered cards, doors which require keys and special 'breakaway platforms'. Cheops Pyramid is also a great idea, if you have picked up a piece you don't need you can exchange it for one which will be of better use. The elevators are also a nice touch and provide short-term safety from the aliens.

I was addicted to this game from the first time I played it. The control of Blob is very smooth and the game is very easy to follow. The smaller features such as Cheops pyramid, elevators and security doors are a nice added touch and the great graphics on each screen make the game generally more enjoyable. Also each time you play you require different pieces to rebuild the core and each one is scattered in a different place so it never gets monotonous. A great game!

Note: If you really are stuck for codes, or you would like the map for this game feel free to email Stacey.

GRAPHICS - 9/10
Perhaps the aliens could have used a little work but the ever varying screen borders and object graphics are great, each of the 512 screens has it's own feel.

SOUND - 9/10
I just love the opening sets of music, they're catchy and really set the feel of the game. The sound effects are also good, I love the sound of the little guy's feet as he runs along :o)

OVERALL - 9/10
This great game combines well thought out graphics and music with originality and style.
