Nice effects of those collapsing buildings for a such a game from '83 !Playing like Rampage in reverse with aliens instead of monsters, SNY's two player co-op mode excels as man and martian do battle above and below metropolis at the same time. ***

Very fun game especially in 2 player! Simple game - yet, brilliant gameplay and a very good 2 player game. Nice touch with the subway part.
The game is rather crap, but I used to love shooting the buildings until they were about to collapse, then piloting my plane into the weak point - preferrably from the inside, not the outside! This was very hard and took ages to set up, but it was fun, fun, fun!
Levelling the entire city was a challenge in itself as well.
Ok, I spent soooo many time destroying fuckin palaces disturbing me with their continuing flash off / on.
Anyway I think this game it's real funny playing with 2 players, even the schema it's in the end a bit monotone..
I have realized a j2me game that reproduces the idea.

I used to play this A LOT with a friend of mine. We just tried to kill eachother in this game using the sky and the subterains as our battlefield. Okay, graphically and soundwise this is a pretty lame peace of software, but gameplaywise with a friend this equals Extreme Violence on the Amiga.

Oh my god! Me and my dad used to clal this Kill New York aswell! The actual game was crap, but taking out the buildings was cool, as was going underground and being hit by a subway! Wee!

We probably all did.. The gameplay itself was rather tame, so you rather started shooting down the buildings. A lovely effect when they were razed to the ground.

When my siblings and I were still embracing the INTELLIVISION-console, this was the game that simply boggled my mind what with the resolution of the sprites, the animation etc. Luckily, two years later, the C64 valiantly replaced the dearly loved INTELLIVISION as our household entertainment device. We thoroughly enjoyed the "depth" of gameplay: "Look, you can get run over by the subway - whoa!" Astounding realism for a 83' game...apart from those alien critters...
Whoa...there were aliens to kill? Me and my brother got this game 2nd hand from our dad so we didn't know what to do. We just thought the point was to destroy the buildings and each other. Man I need to dust this game off

What a great game! What made it so great was being able to play as two players simultaneously, and also have a risk of killing one another while taking out the Aliens. Kind of reminds me of Dr. Destructo. Have always enjoyed this!
This one's great! When I played with my brother, we tried first to play normally, but finally it became a deathmatch, he versus me. Great fun!
One of my favourite C64 games ever! We still play this every now and then with my friends. It's great fun!
And you can destroy the buildings, even go into the subway with the pilot and chase the hatched baby monster or whatever.
I am a professional collector of C-64 games back in Norway, Save New York is one of the games I always have been looking for, I just have a backup tape of it.
I remember we used to make stunts with the aircrafts in the air, we could spend the whole night playing this amazing game!

Yossarian, you and your brother arn't the only ones who were messed up. Me and my brother used to shoot each other down. And of course, you have to shoot down the buildings to have room to dogfight. Or go mano-y-mano in the sewers. We called it "Help Destroy New York."
I saved this game in an old box until 2002, thinking that someday I'd find a C64 to test it on. I bought one at the Salvation Army for $5. The game still works. It is simple, but adictive.
The best thing about this game is that you can shoot the buildings and watch them collapse. Somehow I think this game would be banned nowdays in the wake of 9/11.
I used to play this all the time with my brother. "Destroy New York" we'd scream. We were messed up kids.
