Welcome to round 10 of the competition!

Twisted Evil Gyruss Twisted Evil

I don't have all the details on Gyruss so somebody post it please. And make this one sticky thank you.

I downloaded the version from www.c64.com here is my first score:

452600 Points

I went twice to Earth and then came to 2 warps from Uranus.

Hm, played it for the first time today and got past Jupiter. Does it get harder once you played through it? Game gets a bit dull after a few warps, *sigh*

Speaking of weird shoot em ups, is there a good version of Tempest on the C64?

Hmm..it doesn't really get harder. When I got this highscore I played about 52 warps (to earth is 24 warps) but I just lost concentration cause it took so long. I don't see myself playing this game a lot when every game takes a half hour.

If the enemy ships go in the screen you can't hit them. But when the leave the screen you can hit them...that's what I noticed.

So is this the official compo? What were they thinking? Why not have only left and right controls? This is silly, l/r/u/d, what the hell for? Damn, oh well, it's on I guess.

I have 2 versions of this game. The cracked one from c64.com and the uncracked parker brothers version that I downloaded from somewhere a while ago. Does it matter which one we use? I ask because I have noticed that the cracked one by RLA seems to be harder then the original. (Ships fire at you more often in earlier stages in the cracked version.)

Using the Remember version here and i havent noticed the problems mentioned above. And yes, ship collisions are supposed to destroy you.

Made it to earth twice as well with somewhat more than 400k points but i forgot to bring the screenshot...
Game is pretty easy imo. Only some erratic enemy movement and the weird control method cost me lifes. Would be better with a clockwise/counterclockwise movement. Maybe they just wanted to use all four directions of a joystick instead of just two? Smile

This game is best played with a joystick, although it can be played leisurely with number pad.

When entering a screen in swarms the ships don't kill you but they do when they hover towards you while exiting.

Still haven't played it seriously though but I am going to in the next couple a days.

Another game I've never played before... This seems a rather entertaining shmup to me, but I don't think it's my cup of tea... Anyway, here we go:

66,800

I think I'll only be playing this the once. First game, 173,150. I remember playing this a bit years ago, but it got boring fast this time around. I died for the most part being greedy, going for the bonus points instead of taking it easy. If someone has the patience they could score quite high I think...I'll leave that to those people.

This game definitly needs a joystick. Circular motion with the cursor keys are too hard.

Yes I agree to your comment, that's what I've observed as well, if you take risk to have points bonus it's far more dangerous... then the funny part of this game, the only way to have it not boring us is to take risk to have the bonus and to avoid being killed.... this is enough challenging I think to have fun

Well only for starters.

In any case the game is a superb conversion from the coin-op.

I'll try..haven't played the game since posting my score. The game is getting boring when you have to play it for half an hour....

I don't think so.
My current best is 42,400...

(I hope to improve but for now I'm stuck as my home PC is K.O.)

OK, this is my first score. Not a good one to start with, but I'm looking forward to some real improvement

P.S. my host is giving me some problems. Being not sure the picture will appear, I'm writing down my score: 156,300
