Many years ago, I played an adventure game called Thermonuclear wargames on my latest and greatest c64 (that sounds rather sad now).
Anyway, 15 years later, I've resurrected the game (I'm not sure why)... but I'm still no closer to solving it! I thought age might have made me wiser in completing the game, but I was very mistaken.
It's probably a stupid question, but are there any sites available that give solutions to extinct adventure games? From a lamer standpoint, I can't move on in my life till I've seen this game completed! |

Sorry, the best I can do (and it's not much) is that this bloke, http://www.syntax2000.co.uk/issues/07/sols.asc.txt (no relation to me) claims to have the solution, but you have to send him 30 pence or a stamped self addressed envelope or somesuch before he will mail it to you... (Hmmm, this bloke has a website, but apparently hasn't heard of email!?)
Can anyone do any better to help?
(Hmm, perhappenstance the bloke is actually female?) _________________ Why can't I type in the minichat without making a typo? |

Thank you all for your responses. The adventure solution archive was exactly what I was looking for. Now I have the scissors to cut the wires to exit the sick bay to save the world.
Cheers,

Wow, that sounds like a good one. What's the plot? |

I can't remember the exact details, but it is based around a "super computer", which I think was called W.O.P.R. (War Operations Planned Response). The computer was probably a 386 30Mhz, or a Vic-20.. maybe using valves back then!.
Anyway, WOPR controls the USA's defence system of thermonuclear warheads, stationed within NORAD in Cheyenne Mountain(?). Tensions between the two super powers (which are of course the USA and THE USSR) escalate as WOPR starts the count down for a nuclear missile launch. It's your job to get into NORAD and prevent WOPR from starting a global thermonuclear war. To do this you will need to rummage through rooms, boxes, jump fences, climb through holes and even dress in drag. Sounds exciting? Not really, but I guess a few people here enjoy taking the trip down C64 memory lane... a life time ago... things were so simple then. |

i know this is a super old thread. just wanted to ask a question if someone knows the answer.
i found the walkthrough and finally played the game through.
At the end you need to enter a code to disable the nukes.

My question is. how the hell would you have know about this back in the day? Was this something listed in the instructions of the actual game? |

I'm too lazy to play through the game properly, but the main program is all in BASIC, and it looks like it will give you hints, however vague, somewhere:
| Code: | 900 PRINT"{clear}{down*2}{yellow}remember dr norton's mind jogger..{down*6}"
901 PRINT"'days of hurried meals & office doors{down}"
902 PRINT"important meetings & numbered doors{down}"
903 PRINT"of sickly doctors & missing keys{down}"
904 PRINT"tripods,tridents & groups of three'":FORh=1TO10000:NEXT:GOTO42 |

Actually the WOPR was controlled by an APPLE II. |

If you have completed the game - anychance you can send a save state of the end to the website below? It's not on the site at the moment. _________________
