Hey All Lemoners who peruse the forums!

Its really my first post, although I often love wandering the deep tunnels of lemony C64 nostalgia and writing memories about all the great games....anyway, onto the subject!

I recently bought an ol' commodore 16 at a second hand store rather cheaply with a commodore monitor. (which I'm quite pleased with, as it is compatible with the C64)

My essential problem lies in testing the C16. I'm not certain whether there is an internal chip problem or something, but I simply cannot seem to get any external output at all. At first I used a friend's video port connection (the single port which leads into the video socket on the c16, to the three blue/white/yellow) then using the same frequency as the c64, tried using my tv with the usual RF connection.

On both tests, I seem to only get a blank/black screen. The power is on, with no visible/aural nasties....but I just can't work out what could be wrong. Sad

If anyone can give me a link to a website which could help or has experience with C16's, give me a hoy! Smile

It could be fun pulling it to bits...twould be interesting to see what a TED chip looks like!

Cheers,
Rob Bailey

Thanks for the link Adam -
I wasn't aware of that website and I can see its coverage is quite extensive! I've since emailed the forum there as well in the hope that someone can help with the problem.

I've got a suspicion from previous c64 experiences that a blank/black screen is pretty bad news. Some kind of chip failure...but you never know, I won't give up on it until I know for certain that its dead! Smile

Cheers,
Rob

With C16/Plus-4 black screen, the TED is suspect. Sad
Unfortunately it is nearly impossible to get replacements for this one...
For testing check the rams also. Feel if they are getting very hot after short time ?
I think you connected everything right, because otherwise you wouldn't have got any signal at all !
