I've had maybe 1 or 2 bad games on gamebase out of maybe 2000 tried, so if you're coming up with a lot of bad ones, the problem is a compatibility issue. In your case, sd2uiec gets easily tripped up on custom game loaders.
So, for the answer to your question - Gamebase If you come across a game you really want to play and it doesn't work with your hardware, try searching for the game on CSDb @ http://noname.c64.org/csdb/ and trying different cracked versions, because different crackers used different fastloaders - so one might end up working for you. |

Nowadays it's very easy to find .d64..
Use shane's site and you don't need so much others.
But all sites mostly still have bugging stuff that's for sure.. :(

The other thing beside fast loaders/protection that you have to watch for
is NTSC/PAL.
Be sure to get a copy of the game for you video format. It's alot harder
to find the NTSC stuff than the PAL, and that's what the USA units need.

I have tried the Commodore 8 bit search and like it - good idea!
One game I have tried several files for now is Catalypse. I must have tried around 7-8 different d64s for it. I normally get past the trainers and then screen goes black each time? |

Do you use them on real Hardware or Emulators?
I just tried Bobix and Catalypse in Winvice and they work like a charm in Pal mode. |

I have just read somewhere that if .d64 games have fastload option on them I can disable fastload and it will then work. I have already tried this with Cool Croc Twins and seemed to work fine. My mission now is to find somewhere which I can deciphire between those with a fastload option - any ideas? It would be great to have Bobix and Catalypse working on my real 64! How could I tell if a .d64 file has a fastload option? |

This version of Catalypse might work on either Pal and NTSC machine. At least title says so.
Where are you loacted? PAL or NTSC region? What happens when starting e.g. Bobix.
How do you transfer d64 to disk or are you using some sd floppy emu? |

Also wondering how you're a loading it, if you're using a sd2iec or uiec device then you can expect this behavior, try copying it to a real disk and I'm sure it will load just fine.
1541U-II usually works quite well, there are exceptions there as well though. |

Hi there, I am PAL. I normally get to the trainer screen. Exit it for starting the game and then screen goes black and all activity on my sd2iec device goes - no red or green light? I am also using FB64 with my sd2iec. |

tragically this version loads past the trainer screen. Starts the animation before the title screen 'Catalypse' and then freezes on that title screen...god sakes! |

A plain copy program will work just fine - no super fast special version though as you may run in to the same problem there.
Copy from the problematic mounted disk in the sd2iec to the diskdrive, make sure they don't have the same device number. |

Where would I get plain copies from? Most games are plastered trainers!?
How could I have my disk drive on whilst sd2 is using the serial port? Any chance you could give me a step by step to coping this on to a blank disk? Where would I copy from? |

Plug the sd2iec in the second port of the disk drive, plug the cable between serial port and disk drive.
Plain copy program means a common normal copy program not a plain copy...
I'm guessing this might work, don't have an sd2iec myself.

So. I have SD2iec connected to interface port on disk drive. I have serial cable from disk drive - Commodore 64. What do I do now? I also downloaded the copy program which is now on my sd. |

You have to set different device numbers to the sd2iec and the disk drive.
I'm guessing you have used the sd2iec with load"",8 ?
... and you have a 1541 that has no dipswitches on the back to change the device number?
http://www.c64-wiki.com/index....irmware%29
| Quote: | Change device address
OPEN1,current address,15,"U0>"+CHR$(new address):CLOSE1 - change sd2iec device number to new address
OPEN1,device address,15,"XW":close1 - this will save settings to eeprom (required if you want to set new device address as default) |
So if both are #8, only plug the SD2IEC in and write the command as described above. I'd recommend doing both lines so the device number is saved or you have to re-do it all if you need to reset or similar. Recommend using the new address: 9.
Hook both up again, load the copy program from device 9 or whatever you changed it to and follow directions - which were in German in this release IIRC...
Then you can change it back with the same method after the copy is done. Copying takes a few minutes... |

Instead of changing addresses as you suggested - I have loaded up my sd2 with disk-copy. Once loaded up I can then put serial end of sd2 back into 1541 interface port? I have never done anything like this - I am freaked! |

You can't have same device number on the sd2iec and the 1541 so you have to change one of them. Do that before you load the copy program - whichever copy program you use. |

Cool, so looks like I have now changed and saved SD2 to device 9 and 1541 is still at 8. I load up the disk-copy program but can't make much sense because it is all in german lol!!! |

There must be loads of copy programs, I just grabbed one...
I noticed now that it seems to be for just a single drive...
Does anyone else have a link to a double drive copy program? |
