Hello All,
Back in 1978 I started computing on a PET when I was in 4th grade. Crazy that I remember that. They would wheel them into the room on carts and we would "play" educational games. They were brand new and we were the first class to use them!
I got a Timex Sinclair a few years later (eek) before I finally received a brand new C64 for x-mas one year. I was the king of the world! It was 1983 and my best friend had this thing called the VIC-20 - when I got my C64, he was jealous. We were nerds...I admit it.
Shortly thereafter I got a modem and we'd dial up and chat on the various BBSs. Remember the days before the Internet? At one time I held the record for LeMans and Radar Rat Race...my mom hated that music.
Commodore/PET use continued through high school and into college. I, like others, eventually went the way of the PC and was forced into the world of Windows.
A few months ago I started collecting and putting working parts together. I hope to get my kids interested in the vintage stuff, but perhaps I'm in a dream world. Anyway, hopefully I can begin sharing all of my finds.
Glad to be out of lurking! |
