i recently got my old c64 back and then wired it up but to find out that it dosent work it just comes up with a blue screen with border no writing and when i put a cartridge it loads it but then no cursor comes up and i cant write anything.i would really like to get my commodore working again to show my kids what it was like and to play on my old games

Looks like it could be several things...

for old version:

Ray Carlson can do repairs for you. You could contact him. Or, if you feel good about your soldering skills, you could. However, you will have to get a replacement chip from somewhere.

U1 = 906108-02 (6526) CIA

just look for CIA 6526 (if you have the old board)

Try swapping it with the other one and see if it helps, if you're lucky they're in sockets.

is there any way of fixing it with out buying a chip and the cia chips are solderd in Crying or Very sad

Sell this one and get another one or maybe get another - swap motherboards and then sell the non working one

Ask someone to fix it for you.
