Just received a C64c from an ebay seller and I noticed it has l-h switch on the rf modulator. This is the first machine (c64c) that i have owned with a switch is this unusual?

Channel selector. L or H. In the USA it is Channel 3 (L) or Channel 4 (H). Since different countries may use other channels or in the future the channels may differ, they won't have to change the case.

I think that switch was for NTSC USA channel 3 or 4 selection.
There was a possibility that if a strong tv station broadcast on one channel, you could simply switch to the other channel that had no issues with a nearby tv station.
i dont think it matters much anymore.

I've had a pal c64 with this switch. It changes it from ch37 to ch39 if memory serves to shift it away from the channel video recorders and analogue set top boxes use.

My Commies have always had switches, always knew they were to choose between channel 3 and 4 whichever had the least interference. Atari 2600 and Pong were the same way, never noticed it changed to a l-h switch in the 64c but we've always called them channel switches.
