I opened up one of these and cant take the dark blob spot off,its welded on there. Im curious to see what kind of chip is inside.
Any good way to take this off without damaging the board?

Do you plan to put it under a microscope to find out? There is only a bare die with bonding wires under there.

It will be a bare ROM chip under that blob of goop. Nothing exciting.

Any attempt to remove the black goop (unless you use highly specialised equipment / chemicals) - will totally destroy the chip.
