Okay, while I am getting used to the C-64 joystick controls again, my 6 year old son who knows only PS controllers has a heck of a time using the joystick on my newly acquired Commodore 64.

I loaded up a couple of games with a PC emulator and let him use my Logitech PS2 style game pad with those games, and he actually LOVES some of the old school games like Crossroads 2 using the PC game pad.

What I want to know is if there is any adapter or any good way to use a game pad like this PC Logitech USB controller on my Commodore 64 so that he can play with me on some of the 2 player games when I get the Flyer I ordered..without him getting super frustrated trying to use a standard joystick?

I've ordered a couple more joysticks off of ebay that might help, but I just wanna know if there is any good way to connect this PC USB game pad to the 64?

Thanks.

i'd play it safe. open the thing, cut all lines to whatever logic is in there, and connect the switches/pads whatever is in there (assuming it's a standard digital controller) to an atari joystick cable. (which you gutted from an old joystick)

Yeh, I understand ya there man.

I remember when I was like 15, I actually gutted an old Atari 2600 joystick that stopped working and built my own joystick and wasn't that tough because it only has 4 directional contacts (up, down, left, right) and combos of those for the diagonals as well as the single fire button contact.

All the logic and rumble and fancy stuff in one of these PC Logitech controllers would probably do weird things to the Commodores circuitry, lol. Maybe even a "Bzzzt!" huh?

I bought a Kraft MazeMaster off eBay, and if it works as well as the one I remember having back when I was a kid, I think my son will like that a LOT better then this Wico bat controller I got with this C-64 setup.

I never had one myself, but I remember some people complaining that the sharp corners on the base dug into their hands. Smile
