I am just getting back into Commodore 64, from being too busy with everything else, and because I miss Zak McKracken too. Anyway, I downloaded CCS64, and finally got to download Zak, without paying for it. When I click on Zak Boot file, it then tells me"Put in side 1 and press Joystick Button".
I don't know how to get Disc 1 file to work, after the boot file.
Is anyone familiar with the CCS64 Emulator? |

Press F10 and it will bring up the directory on your PC. Then use the cursor keys to select disk 1. Press "S" for select and you should be back at the part of the game that asks you to switch disks. |

After pressing F10, use the cursor keys to select "1541 Device 8" and press Enter. Then use the keyboard (cursor keys and Enter) to browse to the directory where you have the disk images, and move the selection to the required disk image. When it's selected, press "S" to select it and it should go right back to the emulator. You can then press the joystick button.
What you're doing is 'inserting' a virtual disk into drive 8. When you select the disk image, you'll see various options listed at the bottom of the screen. |

It still doesn't work right. Maybe because I don't have a Joy Stick, or because I am using Windows Vista. It keeps asking me for Disc 1. I decided to not bother with CCS64 anymore, and when I get some extra cash, get a Commodore 64 Keyboard, 1541 Disc Drive and Monitor again.
Thanks for all your help. |

Using the keyboard in place of a keystick should work fine.

Try a copy of WinVICE. it has more options, and traditional menus if you use it in windowed mode (as opposed to full screen). |
