You've been added to the list. Hopefully we can get a lot of interest and get them reproduced. Feel free to spread the word about one, the actual Flyer device and two, about the Flyer enclosure project. |

Put me down as well please. BTW, is there any way to get the Flyer to use say ID 30 as it's "command interface" instead of 7? That would enable the use of the JiffyDOS wedge to send commands in short form. _________________ Please call My C=ult BBS

You've been added to the list.
Also, if you have Flyer suggestions for firmware updates or feature requests, send them directly to the Flyer developer, aka Brandon of Retroswitch.com by using the contact form on his site. |

That prototype looks incredible.

I definately need one.
My 'flyer' will be naked without it.
I can't imagine putting it in a general black project case now.
Awesome work...

I've added you to the Flyer case enclosure want list and also followed up with a PM.
At this point I've added all the people from this Lemon Thread to the want list, but if possible to help stream line things and not add extra chatter to the thread, if you are interested in a Flyer case enclosure, please send a message via the CommodoreFlyer.com contact page:
http://www.commodoreflyer.com/contact/
All your information will be kept private and once we have pricing, etc ready, I'll send out a follow up email to everyone on the list, then of course follow up here on Lemon.
Basically people on the want list will get first chance at the case enclosures once we can get them done in quantity and depending on price, it might be a limited run.
You can also keep in eye on the CommodoreFlyer.com website for news on when new firmware is released and things going on with other homebrew Flyer related projects. |

As for Flyer being naked without a case, Flyer looks super sexy without a case IMHO however... agreed about a general black project case, which is how this enclosure project came about.
Originally we discussed doing something with clear plexi type material for the top and bottom so you could see the inner geeky parts, blinking lights and circuit board goodness, which this still might happen at some point but then the idea was kicked up a few notches and now we have 4 awesome prototype cases. |

The 4th prototype case with Flyer installed is now up for auction on eBay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISA...0703673679
Any profit earned from this auction will help fund setup costs for producing a final "production" case, which we hope to make available to the Commodore/Flyer community at the lowest cost possible. |

Flyer $100 custom hand built case around $80 = $180 the auction is about right where
it stops at once the snipers make there bid who knows.
If it was a jiffy project box filed to suit $30 - $35.

I figured it would be added value to have a Flyer installed as well with the prototype case enclosure.
You know, there's nothing wrong in owning more then one Flyer... heh... you can daisy chain them together or like what I've done is I've got one on my C64 and one on my VIC-20.
I'd love to get a VIC Switch so I could connect multiple Commodore computers to the same Flyer... speaking of which, if anyone has a VIC Switch for sale or trade, please send me a private message. |

That would be an interesting case. A double Decker Flyer drive.
You could have the LED display facing forward with a small ext lead.

Wow what a great piece of kit, I want one plus the neat Case! I was going to get a 1541UII but this looks way better!
Any chance it will support UNC paths as this would make accessing local servers much easier? (no need for setting up a local http server then) _________________ 64 w/ 1541 Ultimate-II inc Tape Adapter, JiffyDOS, 1541 Disk Drive, 1531 Datasette, C64 Flyer Net Modem, ZoomFloppy |

Thanks Just to be clear as far as drive emulation goes, the Flyer is not a complete hardware level emulation of a 1541 like the 1541UII (which is a really cool device!). Flyer is a software emulation, similar to the uIEC, etc.
Otherwise, the feature set & design goals between the two devices are quite different...

Standard UNC paths won't be supported any time soon, if ever. However, I do have a standalone server application which I'll make available shortly which will make serving disks/programs on your LAN very easy.
It's a standalone win32 executable, written in C++ using the Qt framework so I hope to have OS X and possibly Linux ports following soon after.
