I've been looking for that BBS Software for years. It seems to be a real bitch to locate. Good Luck though. |

You bet it exists. I used to call a BBS in Brandon, Manitoba, Canada back in the early 90's, and it used that software. I'd love to see it again.

I have found my copy of it. I don't know if it's complete or anything, as it was many years ago I tested it.
It's 4 discs though, and I have made a zip archive if anyone's interested in a copy.
Where should I upload it? |

Peter Elsner writes "C-Base 128 was written by a friend of Gunther's, Dan (I think it was Patterson but am not sure)."
"When Dan gave up the C-Base 128 version, a person in California (who I can only remember as Dark Overlord) and myself took over programming for the C-Base 128 program.'
"We created dozens of door games and made hundreds of modifications (not to sell but to give away to anyone who was running C-Base 128), and we fixed numerous bugs that we found at the same time. Dan gave me the source code and told me I could do with it whatever I wanted, but Gunther still owned the rights to the name "C-Base", and he ended up selling the code to the author of Color 64/128 BBS (also for the Commodore)."

Well done.

There are some other BBS packages and BBS doors i am on the hunt for.
ie ftp://cbm8bit.com/bbs/C64/BOBS/ .
In time we may fill all the empty folders and add a few more.

The 64 version should be OK. Will keep an eye out for the C128 docs.
ftp://cbm8bit.com/bbs/C64/CBASE/cbase.pdf
13.7 Computers
There should not be any problems with any of the C= 64 or C= 128/C= 128D
Models available. I have not been able to test, or even heard of, any BBS running
on an SX-64, but I’m pretty sure that would work too. When it comes to the C=
65, I’m not at all sure that it will work, because that computer contains quite a lot
of bugs.

Yes, CBase 128 is not so much CBase 64 at all. And documentation would be nice to find. Anyone who has it? |

I have actually been looking for it again since I gave it up so long ago.
I've downloaded it and if/when I have time, I will see if I can't get it installed again.

It was Dan Drury that wrote C-Base 128. He was an acquaintance of Gunther, they were working on both projects at the same time. At the same time these were being written, Depeche Mode was working on DM BBS. I forget his real name.. arty or something like that.
C-base and DMBBS are similar, but C-base 128 is an entirely different animal than C-base 64. C-base 128 is an awesome system, I had a registered copy of that too back in the day. But I remember it being next to impossible to set up without the documentation. (which i no longer have)
