Hm. You could always argue the date. Either when the first working unit was constructed, or when the C64 was shipped.
The earliest serials on c64preservation have C64 specific chips (SID and VIC-II) dated around week 19 to week 29 1982.
But I would say August is the month to celebrate.
Bagnall writes in A company on the edge: | Quote: | | "In August 1982, Commodore finally produced enough C64 computers to making small shipments to dealers". (p. 432) |

What about June of 1982. Do bear in mind that the C64 was not released world-wide all on the same month. Some locations were later. North America release - IIRC was June of 1982.
I could be wrong. It seems that June 1982 sticks out for some reason. |

Today it's exactly 30 years after the Commodore 64 was introduced at CES.
So today it's officially C64's 30th birthday!

I was thinking of playing a differnet C64 game everyday of the year (365 days), and updating the forum with the name of the game daily. I could also take requests.
1st January - The Train
2nd January - Dark Tower
3rd January - Cybernoid
I have played the above games on the respective dates.
What do you guys think? |

Happy Birthday to our beloved C=64
Since I've got no video on my 128 and no working 64s I'll have to settle for playing some games on VICE. _________________ Emulation is the sincerest form of flattery. |

That is a stunning idea. Anyone good enough to come up with something, here's the info:
http://www.google.com/doodles/about
Ok, I don't get it, was there computers in that clip
So, August 1982 is the time and place hey, well, enough time to grow back the mullet, put on Iron Maiden's Number of the Beast 'record' (another 1982 release). Then grab a tape game and wait 20mins to play because there was no fast loaders back then.
For those down in Victoria, Aus, we should start to organise a night for August, what better excuse than the 30th birthday right? _________________
