2011 Brisbane C64 night
Saturday, 27th of August 6:00pm - 11:00pm.
At Petrie (North Side of Brisbane), the hall is about 5 minutes walk from train station.
The venue is Bray Hall on Cooke street.
$5 entry to help cover costs.
Games, Demos + Hardware for all 8bit C= computers. (plenty of room to set up your own system if you wish)
Please let me know in advance if you plan on coming so I can get an idea of numbers before the night. email thestingray64@gmail.com
Looking forward to a fun night of C64 action. BTW, any suggestion for a good game to use in a High Score compo? |

Will be there for sure, again. Will see who I can sucker into it again. As I have a car (and licence) now transport will be easier!
High score comp? No idea off the top of the head, but we need someone to dress up as the Scorelord I think |

My cousin moved to Brisbane to work at the University for a year, and this sounds like a good time to visit We'll see... _________________ Electronic instruments look nicer, and are more fun to use, if they have pretty little colored lights on them! - The Art of Electronics |

Sounds Great!
Not sure if I can make it, with 4 Kids!!!!
But some Good Games for Scores Comps would be "Wizard Of War" (2 Player), "Lemans" (with Paddle Controllers), "Chase HQ.2", "Ms. Pac-Man" & "Pitfall II".
All on ROM Carts for Quick Load & Action!!!

I can pick anyone up around the Sandgate area or between there and Petrie if needed, or on the way through. I could go out even further, say as far as the CBD to pick up; but I can't promise I can drop you back home. Y'know, I don't know when I'm going or how tired I will be if you live local, I don't mind taking 10 mins out to drop you off.
Oh, and let me know what to bring. Plenty of equip and I can do multi trips as I don't live too far away. I have a few C64s, a 128D, a few 1541's, monitor (1084S I think, without looking), about 8 datassettes, Retro Replay, MMC64, ZoomFloppy, many joysticks...um...also a few dead C16's/Plus4s and a live one (one only is dead if you don't use a cart; can anyone fix this?), a VIC20...on the non-Commodore front I can of course bring a few Speccies with the flash cart thing (forget its name but it's cool!), a CPC464 (monitor's dead, have to use RF), an Amiga 500 with expansion, an Atari 130XE...Toshiba MSX1...
Oh, also a MiniMig and 1chipMSX. They're cool, too.
Also as well as the disks I brought last time (which I can bring again), I can bring a few crates of tapes. I'd like to know where the rest of mine are, and my carts, but I can easily bring what I do have. Nothing terribly rare, maybe Giana Sisters, I dunno.
I will bring as much is useful/desired, because as I said, I don't live far - dunno where you guys live, maybe Shane lives even closer (I know he's near Caboolture or something), but I could easily be the closest to the event. And this kind of event is precisely why I bought a car! And it has a big boot. So it is good.
Still trying to think of a game for the high score comp. Could always look at what's on the high score challenges on this site here. Hell, if you want to be fancy, why not wait until August and see what the current game of the month is there, and we could all enter it live? That may be a bad idea though...we won't all get a play unless we all load it up and play to death. Have a look at how long each game takes to amass a score, then you'll know.
(All I can say is Commando for example wraps around the score at 1,000,000 - making scoring rather difficult and unrewarding. Grenades wrap around too!)
Keeping in mind what Shane said about wifi, I got a 10GB limit on my Galaxy Tab anyway which I never use, so that may be useful...somehow. I'd suggest streaming SLAY Radio or something for background music while we're there. Doesn't use much bandwidth. You could have a webcam streaming to the interwebs too if you wanted to be all 20th century |

To be honest I haven't even used the ZoomFloppy! But I may between now and then, and at the very least, I'm happy to bring it so people can fiddle with it! |

Hi guys,
I noticed you are all fairly local (I'm at Murrumba Downs, just up the road from Petrie) - i've got a load of c64 cartridges i grabbed from my folks place a month back (theyre having a clearout) - and was wondering if you wanted them? My c64 died a long time ago and they're free if you want them... I thought of you guys when i heard they were found amongst the crap in our storage room...
I've got...
Avenger
Beamrider
Clowns
Decathlon
Financial Advisor
H.E.R.O.
International Soccer
Jupiter Lander
Lazarian
Magic Desk I
Ms. Pacman
Omega Race
Pinball Spectacular
Pitfall
Pitfall 2
Radar Rat Race
Sea Wolf
Space Shuttle
Speed Bingo/Math
Visible Solar System
Wizard of Wor
Zenji
Zone Ranger
(an unmarked HESWare cartridge... pretty sure it's retroball..?)
I've got a load of tapes too, quite a few CF Powerpacks and a couple of games like Super Pipeline 2, BMX Simulator, Red Max, Big Mac that can go as well....
Let me know if any of you are interested... the more that goes to better homes the better
Doug. |

Daley Thompsons Track and Field - lets break some joysticks!
I think Armalyte or Giana Sisters are pretty classy but that Wizard of Wor cartridge sounds more classic. _________________ |

Does anyone remember that guy at the last C64 night, who got up to the third level or whatever it was, on his first go (ever) at Armalyte?
That guy is definitely banned from any High Score comp this year |
