Dunno if it's quite madness as it usually goes for a bit, but $405 for Castle's Of Dr Creep.

That's insane for sure. I wonder what kind of people have that kind of money to spend on a game that might not even work. I see C64's going for 300-400 USD on eBay sometimes.

My favorite was a 1581 untested that went for $219 when there was one boxed and guaranteed working for $135 Buy It Now. Both in the USA and both sellers had over 10k star rating of 99.9%+ and both listed at the same time. Makes you wonder what is going on.

I was watching the following item on ebay...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISA...&rt=nc

Did anyone else see this and were you as in awe as I was??

So far it looks like the buyer hasn't paid, or at least feedback wasn't left for him. If someone paid $405 for it, I'd have left feedback right waway..

WoW!!

Yeah, I mentioned that in the "ebay madness" thread.
It's multiples of what you'd expect AFAIK.

It has been posted anywhere between 2500 and 3500 for months now LOL. My dream is to own a 128D but the prices are so outrageous it will always stay a dream Sad

Yeah, but the shipment costs alone would be x4 what you pay for the C128D. perhaps more if it's tracking (doubles the shipment costs).

Then there's the customs: on such an expensive item it will be 20% of the sales price + customs fee. It will be quite expensive in the end I'd imagine.

Those 128D machines are HEAVY! And you'll probably want a monitor for it too, if you not already got one, like the 1084s. To get the full benefit of the 128's graphic modes.

It's best to find someone selling within pickup range - drive there and collect it - will be much safer too, to see what you buy first hand.

I would not buy a 128D from a different continent - to find out it does not work or that the box is filled with bricks. Laughing I've heard some horror stories to that effect.

Well I think it was €25 or something postage; German purchases are always very reasonable I find.
Plus Germany, Ireland and even Norway are all on the same continent. Smile
There were no customs charges for me, and there aren't any here for anything under €50, and we are both in the EU.
Then again you are all loaded in Norway so I've no sympathy for you. :p

I always wonder how people misspell "Commodore" as "Commadore"... I mean, the word is written right on the equipment and boxes that they're selling! Rolling Eyes

Here's a 64C and 1541-II lot that still has a day left and currently has 27 bids and is up to $227.50 right now!
http://www.ebay.com/itm/280842105485
I recently purchased a similar lot for around $50. I wonder why this one is so high?

It's in the US but none of it is tested. I expect that lot to skyrocket pretty soon though and I refuse to spend money on something that is untested.

I might lose out that way but have been burned in the past when items I bought didn't work.

I have a C128 and the 128D will just always be a dream unless I get real lucky an win a lottery or something.

OMG.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/BEACH-...2eaf8229c8

And people asking $699 USD for a working 1541 disk drive.

Does anyone actually pay prices like this for this stuff?

I mean I just did a Buy-It-Now earlier today for 7 game cartridges including Dig-Dug, Pac-Man, Centipede, Frogger and more, all with original instructions and paid $25 for all of it. The deal I got seem reasonable to me, but $65 for Beach Head on cassette tape is ubsurd IMO.

Hey.. here is even a "better deal" yet!

Only $109.95 for a used book, Computes First Book of 64 Games, lol.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Comput...3f1518b255

I mean, only $110 for this book. Sounds like one of those deals that is um "too good to be true" ya know? Razz

My experience after selling many items on eBay over the years has been that while some items sold for less than I expected they would, others have sold for more, so I figure it all evens out in the end. Smile

Seems to me that there are many people selling "Commadore" hardware and software that have no idea what it actually is or the value it. I think that they get on Ebay and see
starting bids and buy it now prices from others that have no clue without bothering to notice that most of the time, the stuff never sells. I can usually spot a real poser when I see the words RARE or VINTAGE in the title description. The even bigger thing that erks me is many of these folks probably ran across this stuff in a garage sale and bought a like new in the box complete C64 for $5.
