I have searched through all known C64 and/or Amiga retailers on the net. And they are all sold out of the Competition Pro joystick with 9-pin connector.

So I emailed Jens Schöenfeldt of Individual Computers and asked if he had a new production run scheduled. Unfortunately he hasn't Sad

If I remember correctly the joystick retailed for around 15-16 Euros. According to Jens the amount of money he needs to invest in a production run is too big compared to the relatively small amount of money he can make selling them.

The joystick would have to retail at 25 or even 30 Euros for him to make enough money. But he's afraid people won't pay that amount of money.

That got me thinking. I remember back in the early 90's I bought a brand new Zipstick for 225 Danish Kroner. That equals about 30 Euros. But that was in 1991? That was even more money back then.

I wouldn't mind paying the same amount of money 20 years later.

We are all retro fans and we purchase in a VERY niche market.

Sure we would like to pay 30 Euros for a joystick. Won't we?

Or am I the only one? Very Happy

you can get new in box from ebay for less than that, you can also get two to half a dozen (or more) used ones for that price.

I would never buy a new db9 joystick at full retail. not that i ever would need one, i have several dozens.

I know you can get cheap, second hand joystick way cheaper on ebay. But hey, we're talking about a 25 year old joystick vs. a brand new one Smile

Unless you are C64FANKID Wink

Maybe 5 years from now but at the moment there are too many working and used Zipsticks/Competition Pros going for about a fiver to generate enough interest for a new one for 20-30 € IMO

I'm glad I got my new competition pros when I did! I'm not sure if I'd pay £20-£30 given I have two new ones I got recently. If I hadn't bought those joysticks, I'd probably buy one at that price. That being said if a brand new, exactly how it was back in the day Zipstick came out for £30 I'd gladly pay that for one. Oh how I miss my Zipstick!!!

Saw off the front corners and make it look like Suzo's The Arcade and you have a winner!

F*ck yes, I can edit that fast.
