Yes, link is at the top of this thread. Maybe your C64 is having some problems.

Yeah - dont use the GB version, use the one from C64.com (via link above). This doesnt have the flickering problem.

Also, if anyone cannot move left without it restarting the game, disable joystick port 1.

The flickering is because it was written for NTSC machines and US Gold didn't fix it for PAL before release...

It looks like the game has a maximum score - looks like saehn must've almost hit it. You don't get any extra points for leftover tanks so you could always commit suicide with a few before taking out the big gun, knocking out a couple of enemies to scrape a couple of extra points together.

Anyone ever seen a game before (an arcade game) that gives you the option of changing the border colour, like this one?

My mistake.

Looks like the tank section gives you quite a bit more than a "few extra points" if you can refrain from taking the fortress out until you're down to your last tanks.

Guys, there's a scoring exploit here. You can score multiple times off a hit target once you reach the beach head with the tanks.

If you get one tank through to Kuhn-Lin, on the 2nd run you can get a tank through to the first obstacle, a tank. When you hit it, a 1000 point banner pops up, which you can hit multiple times before it disappears. It's quite easy to do as the 1000 point banner displays diagonally. See below:

In this way I racked up my top score and didn't even bother doing the run to Kuhn-Lin:

You can actually do this with any point banner on the beach, it's just particularly easy with the one I've mentioned above. I think we'll need a competition edition for this one. Basically stop scoring off points banners.

Oh, and on another note, by the end of the 3 weeks, we're all pretty much going to finish this game, right? How about submitting a score for each difficulty level (1-4)? This game is fairly easy, but a lot of fun. We'd need people to post scores from the game screen to verify this, as opposed to the high score table.

Great suggestions, that would make for a really good compo edition.

I must admit thats how ive been achieving high scores but youll have no problem from me tackling a competition version that removes this exploit, i always thought it was common knowledge (im even quite sure its mentioned somewhere in the instructions)
