Been looking around.
Is there a way of converting T64 images back to Tap.
Anyone know why if not. ie some of the data is missing etc.
enjoy,
Shane. _________________ Looking for a causal coder, Python/MYSQL/PHP/Java. PM Me |

T64 is no tape format at all.
It's far closer to d64 as to TAP.
So the way to go is:
- extract PRGs from the t64
- use some PRG2TAP tool
- merge all the generated TAPs
The only advantage of t64 is the filename which is stored more or less properly. T64 files can only store CBM-format files, so you can't store 99.9999% of original games with it. _________________ |

WAV-PRG will convert a T64 to TAP.
Select on start up 'Convert a PRG, P00 or T64 file to a sound or TAP or WAV.' |

As enthusi already described, you'll not be able to recreated the original tape version unless it's something homemade that was transferred from a tape to .t64 or perhaps turbo tape - don't know if any of the available tap-converters will convert to turbo format.
So, if you're planning to take a game from a .t64, that's likely to be a crack if it's a commercial game - then you'd just get a fake .tap out of it and no speed loader, load pictures, music or anything like that. Probably just a blue screen like when you load a common home made BASIC-program.
So - such a conversion is basically useless. |

Is it possible to make or buy an adapter that you can use a regular cassette recorder for a C64 datasette? I live in the US, and I want to run some datasette games like Temple Of Apshai and Shamus, but I don't know if there are enough NTSC cassettes for a datasette to be a good purchase. If I could make the adapter, that would be great. _________________ Are you keeping up with the Commodore? Cuz the Commodore is keepin up with you..... |

I don't think there is such a thing as an NTSC or PAL Datassette.
You would get one off Ebay pretty cheap. _________________ |

Vimfuego has made the Cassadapt:
http://cbm8bit.com/index.php?o...it-designs
As you can see it has an audio connector that you can hook any proper sound source to (tape deck, PC or other sound player). Only bad thing is that the C64 can't stop the tape recorder as it does with a real datassette, that may cause problems at the FOUND-message and multipart games.
There has been others like it on eBay.
It's probably possible to build one yourself, there are available schematics for the datassettes available, you "just" need to copy the design.
There's probably someone willing to send you a real datassette for shipping costs only, they aren't worth that much. |

Hey everybody, I just noticed this thread. You might be interested in an adapter I've been selling for the last 4 years. It converts an mp3 audio signal to the digital information that feeds the datassette port. It enables you to load programs like Commando, Dessert fox, in less than a minute, and have them stored on your mobile phone or mp3 player!
Take a look.

It's in spanish. I can translate the details if you need. Write me to albormix@yahoo.com
It was a surprise for me to find so many enthusiastic C64 users like me over these years. C64 won´t die !
Regards,
Ariel. |

Interesting items like modern laptops and Pc's with Commodore names.
Are you making them?
