I'm trying to introduce some people to Interactive Fiction a.k.a. text adventures and I'm trying to find a way to convert z-code files to a single executable. I've attempted to us "uninform" to convert the z-code to a file that Inform can open, but with no success. I was hoping then to use Inform to make an .exe of the game.
Anybody know how I get a z-code (.z3 version) to open in Inform 7?

They didn't know over at rec.arts.int-fiction either, but I eventually won hunt the verb Wink with google
http://jzip.sourceforge.net/jzpc21.zip
There's a program in there, jzexe.exe, that makes a DOS executable of
most z-code files. (it needs the jzip.exe in that folder too).
Not quite Windows but close enough for what I want.

Isn't it possible to associate .dat/.z[3-8]/.story files to Frotz or create a shortcut which launches Frotz and starts story file automatically?

We're talking total noobs here. If I give them two files they won't even know where to start. I can associate them on my computer, but when I give them a game it won't work for them AFAIK.
