Another close round of voting! The mighty Hawkeye fell at the last post, to the equally mighty:
RULES:
Round 6 starts 6th of June and will end 26th of June, 24:00 (midnight) GMT
The aim of the game is to score the highest % complete.
Ties will be resolved by the number of gems collected.
 Post screenshots in this thread.
Please ensure that you own a legal copy of this game to compete.

OFFICIAL COMPETITION VERSION OF THE GAME:
| tnt/beyond force wrote: | | Here you can find version from original .TAP, crunched with pucrunch. Quick test verifies it seems to work. |
SOME INSTRUCTIONS:
Press the fire button to move faster.
Press 'Space' to stop suddenly. Careful: you lose time when you do this!
Press 'M' to view the map
Press 'I' to change what you look like; Personally, I think it's harder with the ball.
F1 to F7 change the angle you view the screen from. The compass at the bottom right of the screen always points north.
Press 'C' to change the color scheme. Useful sometimes if the scheme becomes black and you can't see your bottom (vicar).
The area to the East of the start screen is a 'practice area'; Time runs slowly there, and the screens are quite easy. It still counts towards your overall % for completing the game, tho!

Never was very good at this game (although it does bring back some frustrating memories!)...
I'm currently using the keyboard due to the necessity to use the space button. Does anyone know if it's possible to assign keyboard presses to joypad buttons using CCS?
A not so mighty 6% and 14 jewels
Think I'm going to enjoy this round |

Yeah, go to the menu, Options/Input/Joystick Special.
I dunno if you can do it with WinVICE tho. _________________

The only way to get more time in this game is to a) collect jewels and b) enter a new screen, right? |

26% is as much as I think I can get without learning the controls....
or is my score 13%? What did we agree on? Since the game percentage is just the average of the two others we might as well just use the game%. It does make a small difference since the game% is rounded down, though.
This way a player with 11% rooms and 10% jewels might lose to a player with 2x10% if the latter has more jewels. Not quite fair, IMO, but then again these situations might not occur at all. |

I have noticed that keeping the space bar pressed lets the time fly by faster. Is this a idionsyncrasy of my version or is this a common feature? |

According to the manual this is intended (e.g. for if you are trapped). |

Found it on the Commodore Format power pack #12 and Commodore Force Reel Action #13. I used to be really good at this game when I was a teenager. I used to play it all the time, but now. I'm not. Here's my score:
355 screens to map (That's how many screens I had to visit)
17 jewels collected
8% screens complete
7% jewels complete
8% game complete _________________ The New Dimension

Oh boy, I was never any good with this game. I got in a few practice games and I still suck at it. Oh well, I'm used to last place after the last couple of rounds. _________________ Emulation is the sincerest form of flattery. |

Woohooo! This is going to be a very very cool round indeed. After several very careful practise sessions I figured out how to do the area south of the starting point. Now to figure out the area to the west and that area where Apollyon got stuck...
Oh, and scoringwise, what are we looking at? Tie breaker on jewels and add the two percentages? _________________ |

I always run out of time really soon... So far, this is hard enough to make me: a) quit, b)keep trying untill I get better...
6% screens
4% jewels
5% game
10 jewels
Does anybody have that Spindizzy map?
btw, i got trapped once on the same screen that Apollyon has... now I try to avoid the spot... _________________ |

Later that day....
Belive it or not, i'm starting to think that this is a kind of game I really enjoy...
screens=16%
jewels=10%
game=13%
#of jewels=22 |

Should further ties be resolved by time of achievement, or will it then be a shared result? Hannibal and marukpa both scored the same percentage and the same amount of jewels.. |

OK, the only scores I'm bothering with, are '% of game', and 'jewels' as a tiebreaker. This tiebreaker will determine only how many RANK POINTS the tied players get this round on the L64 leaderboard; they will still get the same number of % POINTS.
I see no reason to inflict maths on players and make them add up their '% of screens' and '% of jewels' scores... these numbers will all be crunched down to a score from 1-50 for the % POINTS on the leaderboard anyway.
If players tie on % and jewels, then I suppose we'll look at the 'to map' stat to resolve them. _________________ Hey, you. Dumbass. Yeah, you in the tank. Cosy in there? |

South is the easiest section of the 4. North is pure evil and contains the crescent moon, which is famed for being stupidly difficult.
Secondly, it's very very easy to get rooms up in this game and a lot harder to get jewels, in particular the entire west area can be explored very very quickly (by not getting the jewels) and therefore you could get a score much higher than someone elses who did a lot more work (the jewels are extremely difficult to get in a lot of cases). _________________ |

Here is the map requested earlier:
http://maps.speccy.cz/map.php?...7&ath=
It is only good for getting a general overview and planning a strategy i think because you cannot turn it around and see it from the other sides which seems to be necessary often. |

Also i have problems travelling slopes. I always fall off of them. Any ideas how to overcome them with the given control method? |
