Luckily the "growing wall" wasn't known in Boulder Dash 1. Wink

Keep losing random lives all over the shop, but here's an improvement:

K2 - 12279

I love this game, but not having to play it through from the beginning. I tend to chop and change my start levels a lot when practicing.

Well, I did beat N1, but more out of chance than systematically. Died in C2.

I can't figure out at all how to tackle N. Any tips on how to do it? I assume I have to lure the boulder-guards to run into circles in the upper part before using the boulders to crush the butterflies in the lower part, letting them out one by one from below; is this a correct strategy?

Sounds fine. What I do is release all 6 fireflies at once, by clearing some space under the boulders, and then lead them over to the right hand side of the level and encourage them all to swarm round in a big loop (or a few small ones). Then I can dispose of the butterflies at my leisure, and I don't get confused by the two types of enemy following different walls.

One whole level further, but a goodly amount more efficient and so a whole bunch more score:

L2 - 15268

Mental note to self: 2 games of this in one day is too many...

Nooooo-oooo! That's not possible! Play until you get the game into your dreams - and I'm not talking about wimpy stuff like nightmares about being crushed. In true Boulder Dash dream every boulder and diamond always falls to the left from top of another if it has choice! (You all have noticed this, haven't you? Smile )

A nice improvement. Keep getting to level L but can't figure out how to use the fireflies to break in correctly to get the rest of the diamonds.

Current Score: 5238

Yeah, that one was a bitch to figure out. And you can get trapped easily. I played and played that thing to figure out how to get through it. Fortunately that was back in the day so I didn't have much trouble with it in the compo. Basically I go down then right then back up the center and then down the right side.

Now I'm at a level (J?) that I have completely forgotten how to get through. I figured it out before but that was a long time ago - without save states Shocked ! Now to make me a save and figure that thing out.

Still have to post my 2nd improved score. Made one last week with around 15'000 points, but I forgot to make a screenshot. Another highscore will follow possibly on Friday. Hope to beat the score from Shteev Wink

*sigh* Four Rockfords on level I, four stupid mistakes which killed my four Rockfords. Oh well 4274.

I think I'm suffering from boulder burnout.

Made it past K3! Bought it on K4 instead Smile

The trick to K3 is to go immediately to the right, release the first firefly you come to, and use it to blow a hole in the diagonal wall, near the bottom. Use the dirt creatively around there, both to force the firefly next to the diagonal wall so you CAN blow a hole in it, and to stop all the boulders above it falling to the bottom of it, blocking your way to the exit.

K4 is a little easier, but there's still a tricky bit... getting the boulder in the bottom left hand corner. You need to blow up a firefly near there and take out a few of the boulders.

This may well be my last score, too... especially now I've started playing Boulderdash 2 for variety.
