Same tactics as in Salamander: don't ever die! This time around it is just harder.

Initial voyages into Death City (metaphorically speaking) put me off first time around but after discovering the upgradable weaponry (and the fantastic way in which you can form your own strategy and beef up your favourite weapons) led to me stocking up on orbiters and knocking seven shades of space crap (Copyright Papposoft) out of all of the baddies...No real score to post yet though...

although I voted for this game, I won't be competing this time!
it's just way and way too hard for me! I tried but then I scored 1000 points or something. what a laugh!

Hehe.. I wondered why everyone was so eager to vote it, personally I think the powerup-system is nice indeed, but the attackwaves on most levels lack polish, fairness & balancing... Maybe if you practice & memorize each level intensely you stand a chance but considering the scope of the game, it'll take a lot of time Twisted Evil

I have never seen this game before and am quite impressed. Well with level 1 anyway. Not sure if it's me, the file or if the game is supposed to be this way. But after making it through level 1 and you can choose your next level. Level 2, level 5 and the antares level seem to have bugs as I can't see any enemies on the screen. Sometimes I can see their bullets and I see them blow up or blow me up. With CCS64 2.0 the screen constantly blinks red during play so I tried VICE 1.14 and that's where I'm having problems past level 1. I guess I'm asking is the game supposed to behave that way on level 2 up?

The Pentacle version is badly bugged. I've actually played the Chromance version, and in that the level backgrounds seems to be OK, but in some levels I get a weird bouncing rubbish (random memorypattern) sprite that I can't shoot, can't die by colliding, and must wait until it bounces off before attackwaves continue...

More investigations must commence to find the optimal version.

You could try this version - cracked from TAP, compressed with pucrunch. All loader checksums matched so I think it's as OK as it gets.

Edit: compressing it totally broke it... coming back soon...
Edit2: back in business...
Edit3: added manually cleaned TAP into archive

That's my first go, first time I've played it in ages. Only did a couple of levels, and I *know* I can do better than that...

Hi there,

tried this one and quite like it (even though it has a quite crappy collision-detection).
Could anyone give me some hints about the powerups? I don't know which one does what, might be helpful, thanks.

(I won't post my crappy score yet, have to improve a little...)

Dave

The machinegun (leftmost weapon) is mostly all-around usable, but if you die and lose its power you're in a world of pain.. the eight-way (second from left) and laser beam (middle) I find completely useless, but maybe they're good to switch on during a wave where you think you're likely to die...
