Hmm, Salamander eh? Intriguing!
I was sort of hoping for IO in a way, since its slightly more hefty difficulty curve I thought would level the playing field somewhat.
I've only played Salamander a little on my c64, but from what I've seen, its pleasant to play in the beginning - I couldn't believe all the powerups I had for awhile. The air of invincibility is gradually worn away however by some interesting level design - I haven't been able to pass the area where you have to 'make your own escape tunnel' through this odd thick wall of fleshy substance.
I got a pitiful 35, 920 on my first shot...now I have to work out how to send the screenshots. hehe. I'll practice some more first I think before doing so...
Looking forward to at least trying to compete
Rob

Bet you had trainer in the game, if it was Nostalgia version :p (*joke*)
Here's my high score:
Man, I'm glad that I am quite good at this game - especially after giving that big boss brain a good blasting, and destrying him
I always found level 2 to be a real challenge. Got pretty far, but lost after all this screen flashing business, which sort of put me off. Addictive game Salamander
[b]Update: I have a new hi-score of 82840, playing the original tape version of the game. Although a better score than my previous attempt. It is still not good enough. I'll try to do even better _________________ The New Dimension

106'435.
Slight improvement on the last effort, got twatted on the vertical bit again, found the controls to be a bit nervous when you collect loads of speed-ups, but on the plus side you manouver like a ninja. Seriously. _________________ "If you think that the work security systems still overlook 'pr0n' you're an idiot." |

a good game, had a little go yesterday with about 107'000 points, I'll post my score this evening and try to improve.....
The game appears like a mixture of Delta and Lightforce to me. _________________ My life without a breadbin would be

Well, the first stage seems to be easy enough although I still haven't reached the end boss.

I won't bother posting a screenshot because I'll surely be improving my score.
Shteev, no worries mate, I'll take care of it this month. I hope everything turns out OK and you'll be back next month so I can curse you properly . Actually I don't care which version you use as long as the gameplay, level design, scoring system and difficulty level has not been tempered with. So as long as the US version is EXACTLY the same as the European version I don'mind you using it.
I tried out the Wizax version on Dohi's site but that seems to be buggy too.
There's also this http://www.c64unlimited.net/ga...riginal%20(d64).zip which is supposed to be the original disk version. _________________ | Stingray wrote: | | So no one understands exactly how the C64 works as it is reversed engineered Alien technology via the Nazi Vrill project, Project Paper Clip and the TOI project. |
