Awesome work again Frank. Mayhem is right, the car bonus level is mentioned in the first instalment of the Creatures 2 diary, along with the April Fool "RETRO-CLYDE" (a hacked screenshot of Retrograde with Clyde Radcliffe in it).

A small update added tonight with another Apex game found... this time a very early glimpse of what eventually became Creatures 1.
This also includes some music never heard before by Steve Rowlands.

Check it all out at the usual address.. http://cs.c64.org

Other bits include...

(*) Megatree disks released - Following on from Retro Gamer's official release on issue 7 (Thanks to Shaun and Martyn for permission).
The game's Charset was additionally found which was missed.
(*) Real "Obliterator" loading picture found, and available to download.
(*) Another Cosmos Designs game reveilled... "Outrage".

And some other updates and additions, including the HTMLised "Total Recall V1" article from Zzap 64 and more scans.

More soon I hope when I get some more time Smile

Good stuff... only thing I'd say is that "Star Raiders" isn't an Activision game; it's an Atari publication Wink

Activision (or more precisely Electric Dreams) handled a pseudo sequel to the game back in 1987 for the home computer formats.

And Mindsmear was 1987 I believe (check your Zzap!64s Frank!).

Yeah, it was the sequel I got mixed up with. I'll fix that, cheers Mat Smile

Well, I wasn't sure if it was 86 or 87, as I haven't got my zzaps handy to check. But I went on the date which HVSC set for Barry's two tunes he did for the game around the time. Maybe someone with a Zzap CD can confirm for me? Smile

hey frank, slightly off topic:
GTW website wrote:
"BARBARIAN 3"... MORE DETAILS FOUND...
Thanks to Tobias Hultman, GTW is now able to give more details about how the long lost sequel to Palace's classic series was to play, including a rare Amiga screenshot to get a feel of things...
is that tobias hultman dude still alive? he used to be a lemon member aswell and he also had a good c64 related website. but it's been a long time ago and my mind seems to be a bit blurry nowadays Cool
anyway, any news on that guy?

cheers Wink

There is a California Raisins game for the C64 btw Frank... guess this one would have been something different.

Whoops.. I forgot to mention there already was one out!. Smile

But then looking at the C64 one in Gamebase, what I thought was the released C64 version, I must have confused with another system conversion i'd seen.... I haven't seen that particular one in Gamebase before Smile

Yes, the proposed Big Apple game would have been a Decathlon-style game - the one in Gamebase is a platform game, and was developed in the States.

More goodies for the week... http://cs.c64.org

(*) New GTW - "Trigger Happy".. a early Delta clone
(*) Two previously unknown Ocean / System 3 titles discussed
(*) Another rare Streethawk screenshot added, this time for Version 2
(*) Nimitz rare cover art added
(*) And a few other bits and pieces and tidying ups Smile

I might take a rest for a few weeks to concentrate on Sub Hunter and doing some actual research for GTW. There are one or two titles I want to chase up, and hopefully find some bits for the Christmas update.

I'm hoping to obtain a few big titles very soon. But if I go quiet, check out the forum for a regular news post I have.

Once again (I'm starting to sound repetitive) Thanks Frank and Keep Up The Good Work!

(By The Way - I saw Glenn Stubberfield's name in the credits - I bought an Amstrad CPC from him a few months ago at Sunderland. Small world etc!)
