Now, this is what it's all about! A first go indicates that my Thrust skills seemed to have survived the passing of the millenium somewhat intact:
92300 - lvl 11

If you have the joystick controlled by a keyset, those keys won't function normally. Turn off the keyset and see if that changes anything.
I'll t(h)rust you too, MTR. |

Be a real man. Use the keys. No, not the keys pretending to be a joystick. A and S, Space tractor/shield, shift to thrust (oo-err) and return to fire.
I've been warming up, playing a few games of the Thruster remake by Guildhall/Kooldog. Well worth a look. _________________

16,600 for now
(yes I know I said I was backing off, but this is too a good game to resist, even with a broken finger as I am. Never had it back then, one of my favourite emu discoveries, although I'm not any good at it). _________________ My top games: 1.Hawkeye, 2.Uridium, 3.Creatures II, 4.Delta, 5.Bubble Bobble, 6.Ikari Warriors, 7.Armalyte, 8.Bionic Commando, 9.Archon, 10.Buggy Boy. |

A little better...60500 (no screenshot....it saved it allright, but I can't open it?!? I'm using CCS. Has anyone tried that too?)
I discovered that the green ring works as a shield which made it a little easier...
For those who haven't peeked ahead in trainermode, look forward to a surprise after round 6 that makes the game a lot harder!! |

Warning, spoiler ahead!
I am with SLF, Thrust is my favourite emu discovery! I played it briefly when i was younger and remember i hated it
But nowadays i realize what a fine game it is. Even managed to beat my 1,5 year old highscore. I am at 69150 now and reached level 8 i think. Will need lots of further training on reverse gravity mode to reach shteev's score. |

Hm, seems not everyone is so familiar with all you can do in the game. So here some tips:
When you press space you can collect fuel and the pod but at the same time you are also shielded from the ground turret shots. It is of good use when you enter some tricky parts shielded and then blow away the turrets when you are in a safer position. Dont overdo the shielding though because it costs fuel.
Seen that little factory located on the surface of each planet (at least in the first few levels)? You can blow it up too! When you shoot at it it will stop to blow that green pixel smoke out of its chimney. As long as it is inactive the turrets dont shoot at you. Not so useful though because most dangerous turrets are far away and the pause only lasts a few seconds. Give the factory a few more shots and after a countdown it will blow up the whole planet! If you manage to escape to orbit with the pod before the countdown reaches 0 you will get a nice bonus, if not you will get zero points!
Dont give up too soon. If you play a bit longer you will grow accostumed to the (keyboard) controls and you will also develop a feeling for the gravity and the effect of the attached pod. |

Nice tip there Apollyon. I'm at level 8 as well and couldn't figure out how your score could be 9000 higher than mine. So now I'm gonna blow up some factories!!
As mentioned earlier, I can recommend new players who think the keboard control sucks to program the joystick. This is how my joystick works:
Up: fire
Left, right: Turn
Down: Shield/pick up
Fire: Thrust |

Slight improvement:
27,150 (lvl 4)
I must say that I'm more admired by how the game is conceived and executed than actually excited in playing it
@Kusarigama: OT: isn't the 4th weapon in Ninja Spirit a Kusari-gama? _________________ My top games: 1.Hawkeye, 2.Uridium, 3.Creatures II, 4.Delta, 5.Bubble Bobble, 6.Ikari Warriors, 7.Armalyte, 8.Bionic Commando, 9.Archon, 10.Buggy Boy. |

Right! Also one of the bosses in Dragon Ninja wields a kusarigama. I don't remember the exact level (4? 5? 6?), but he's the one at the end of the train. _________________

| Apollyon wrote: | Shteev: any tips on navigating that Klystron Pod out of the third reverse grav level? I am getting there without too much hassle but i simply loose control when i attach the pod and there are so many corners to navigate around |
Me too. I have spent about 2 hours practicing this on lvl 8 and 9 and I still can't control it. The increment of difficulty from gravity to reverse is way too big, IMHO. |
