I'll get the ball rolling for this one. Here's the score from my second serious attempt.
Bosses are gonna be a pain in the butt I can see already.
Gonna take some serious work to get a high score posted in the game on this one. Good luck all!
Current high score 140,610[/b] _________________ Are you on the same island as I am? |

Phew, I was scared that the high-score there was your score. _________________ "Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former."

One credit, Qazi. Credit wouldn't do any good, anyhow, since your score is reset when you die.
I know I whined a little about this game during the voting period, but it is actually a bit funnier than I remember. But the spider is much harder than on the Amiga!!
I guess I'll put myself in the lead with a screendump of my second attempt. Guess I wont be there when shteev and the hardcore boys grab the stick

hmmm...looking at that hiscore I believe I have a different version. Is there any noticable difference between the versions? |

I just downloaded the hungarian version and I cant see any difference from the one I got. I only scored 412000 though...
I was thinking if anybody has hints for the bosses. The way I defeat the spider is by standing in the left side. Then it will bounce off the wall without hitting you. In the amiga version you would just shoot it each time it came down, but in the c64 I cant hit it. I have to create lots of rainbows then touch them when the spider is on its way down. Then they will hit him multiple times.
The only problem with this is that I seem to lose 1-2 lives during the process. If anybody else have a different approach, speak up. |

I'm a bit upset. As I was finishing round 10, at my all time highest (around 630.000 with two xtra lives) the game froze. The graphics turned into a mess and the sound dissappeared. Of course the score went as well
I guess I found the difference between the version I already had and this hungarian one
Anyways, the thing I wrote about the spider being tough: forget it, as long as you got fast triple 'bow, you should do fine.
I dont think I'll play until I hear about people finishing round 10 without the bug. |

perhaps the lurid + tricycle is a bad version?
maybe you should get this version instead? cracked by action, found at the gamebase. _________________ |

Hi all, haven't had the time to play yet, but I'd suggest to play the original version you can get at arnold's:
ftp://arnold.c64.org/pub/games/r
find your way to rainbow.islands.ocean.original etc.
to load it you must load "code".
Hope that helps.
Matt, I guess you meant my review for Rainbow Islands...
To beat the bosses my trick is to get on the upper left side of the screen, build a lot of rainbows, begin to crash them when the boss is under them and then continue jumping and firing like mad.

Get to a high platform, place rainbows in the same place repeatedly so that they overlap, then jump on your stack of rainbows when the time is right. _________________

I'm playing the Lucid Tricycle version of the game on CCS64 v3.0, no problems so far up to level 14
1,090,550
Very playable, this. Some of the differences with the Amiga version grate (it's harder to walk on rainbows, and they keep bursting), whereas some are welcome (the Bosses are big girls blouses).
I trust, btw, we all know about this stuff:

Wasn't there a complete guide to the c64 version on Commodore Format (done by Andy Roberts IIRC)? Must check it out. _________________ My top games: 1.Hawkeye, 2.Uridium, 3.Creatures II, 4.Delta, 5.Bubble Bobble, 6.Ikari Warriors, 7.Armalyte, 8.Bionic Commando, 9.Archon, 10.Buggy Boy.

Ooh, thats clever!
AFK for a few days now, so heres a score to keep you going
1,677,180
Toy Island, somewhere. Managed to get 3 permanent powers of the first 3 levels this time. Am giving up trying to get them past this for the moment, I keep getting Hurry Up!ed.
I expect I'll start playing the original version of the game; I can't see me reaching 12 million in a hurry, and I'd prefer the high score table to record my own games.
Biggest problem currently is being surprised by flying baddies when they appear on the screen. I might get the mapping paper out for this one. Or: Anyone know a good source of maps on the net for c64 games? _________________ Hey, you. Dumbass. Yeah, you in the tank. Cosy in there? |
