Ok this is not entirely c64 related but heregoes, I am looking for a book/kit/website that can assist me in learning to progam in C+. I can program in basic and I taught myself pascal. I borrowed a couple of "teach yourself c" books from the library but you needed to be able to program in four languages while juggling four bowling balls and two eggs at the same time to understand them.

any suggustions will be appreciated

I'd suggest learning Java before C++, Java is an Object Orientated Programming language (like C++) and is actually pretty easy to understand if you don't try to understand why things are done the way they are. Plus you can code for applets to use in standard web browsers as well as java programs. Java is not JavaScript, so do get them confused. JavaScript is Netscape's doing and allows for some good stuff to be done on a plain old HTML page. Applets are executed in a window placed like a graphic on the HTMl page and noone can see your code.

I'm the same. Would like to learn a language but the "teach yourself.." books throw me. I am reasonably Linux/Unix literate but scripting is beyond me!
Any good websites out there aimed at moron level?

Regards.....

All sorts of stuff can be found for free and there are forums for everything. If you want to learn something simple, learn HTML. There are thousands of sites to teach that. That is simple programming. If you want to understand computers, the c64 is a great way to start! I was going to teach a class at a YMCA to kids on 64's because how easy they are to program and learn. Maybe some of us should start a programming the 64 series! The great thing about using only 64k is learning how to program effeciently, unlike Windoze did with their OS!!! We live in a world of programmers that have no background and take the classes at college, get the jobs and program bloated software because "we don't need to worry about saving memory, everyone has over 128 megs and 40 gig HD's".

Learn Perl (it's easy) and that can introduce you to bits about other languages. Perl is free

Learn Java (it's not so easy) and it's also free.
