Welcome Hannibal. I think all of us get mocked for our love of C64 and retro games, so you can talk about it to your heart's content. We are a happy band of men stealing from the rich and giving to the poor.... oh wait wrong Forum Wink.

In any case I hope you enjoy it here, the games compo is not a nice place. We take it very serious as our injuries can attest. Wink

Thanks for the welcome guys. Shteev, that gamepad of yours, are you able to program other buttons than just the firebutton? Playing dropzone with a button for shield and one for the smartbomb would help a lot I think (I'm looking for an explanation for your insane highscore) :O)

Pffff a lot of practice but still quite low score compared to shteeve

Anyway, here is my last good score.... don't know if I can improve this one...

409'130 points

Anyway, I had a lot of fun playing this one I didn't know at all and I have to say that the programmation of this game is great, when green enemies shoot at you the trajectory is always wery well calculated to annoy you or to kill you.... and I have tried different strategies and that for me is the mark of a great game when different strategies can led you to good scores.

Good luck the others !!!

Yes indeed, one of the nice features of CCS64 is the ability to assign C64 keyboard functions to extra buttons on a joystick/pad. It's in Options/Input/Define Joystick Special

If you can't do that, the old trick for playing Dropzone on the original C64 was to plug a joystick into port 1, put it on the floor, and trigger smart bombs by pressing the fire button with your foot.

I'm using CCS64 as well, but I've plugged my old Arcade joystick in the PC. For most games I wouldn't trade it for anything, but it's obviously not as good when you have to use more than button.

Matt, I found a way to post the screenshots, so plz ignore my mail.

This was done the hard way(or the stupid way): Joystick without autofire, space for smartbombs, enter for shield.

Yeah, Matt for MOD. Keep up the good work, matey Smile

Welcome to Hannibal.

I'm playing as usual with keyboard only.

Here's another slight improvement from me, but I'm not even half pleased with my performances yet.

337,910 (planet marshall)

copy bla bla bla.

Hell, I'm enjoying this superb game, but keeping concentration is hard.

Dammit! Doesn't look like I can make the top three with only 1 round left Sad

BTW, I joined the Lleague over at Llamasoft now. The pace is a bit more frantic! (1 game/week)

And thus you'll play in that lleague and not in this anymore Sad Crying or Very sad

I play in this one 'cause:
-I'm c64 only. This league too.
-I have just little time to play (about 2-3 hours per week) and this three-week based compo suits my needings much more.

You're gonna push me off third place with me only getting the min. 5 points, so you need not worry. We'll fight for third spot in the final round Shteev, I'm gonna scratch and I'm gonna bight before I give up the third spot Cool Twisted Evil

Question I was wondering if people use emulator's save option. Or is that considered cheating? Personally I play from scratch each time. I think this should be clarified in the rules posted at the beginning of the tourney. My opinion is no saves unless the game chosen is an adventure/RGP (and I dont see that coming any time soon).
