|
|
So, I bought a car audio cassette adapter a couple days ago. I have now tested it a few times and I just can't get it to work.
I plug the adaptor jack into my computer and then I used WAV-PRG to playback the sounds. It just won't work. I loads it for a while, then stops and it just reads "READY", nothing else. Tried mostly everything, inverted waveform, changing volume, different wave forms, even used an azimuth alignment program from a cassette to get the datassette aligned for the cassette adaptor, it just won't work although the program claims the signal is perfect.
So, any more ideas, anyone? |

Can the datasette load the program it saves itself? (e.g. type a one-line BASIC program, save it and try and reload it) |

Biggest problem when loading from audio source is that the audio playback doesn't stop upon "FOUND THEGAMEYOU'RELOADING"...
So you have to hold space until that's passed or be extremely quick to push it when the message appears.
You can also hack the kernal rom to skip this pause.
Same goes for pauses "inside the load" it's not uncommon for an original game to pause, start something and then continue loading. If it does that your audio playback is still playing...
Some kind of feedback to your computer would be quite possible as well, you need to make the motor-signal toggle your audio playback and the problem is solved. |

I get no messages, the loading just stops and it reads "READY". |

What output are you using from your computer?
Have you checked that you have sound on that output with another device? Have you tried the adapter in a plain audio cassette deck/walkman or similar?
Try to write a small program in VICE, like 0 REM TEST and then save it to a TAP and play back that...
What are you trying to load, does that tap load properly in VICE? |

Turn off all EQ & surround sound enhancements on your sound card too, you need as clean a signal as possible. _________________ |

Yep, I have tried it in a regular audio cassette deck and the sound is good. I use the 3,5 mm headphone jack to output the sound from my computer.
I better test out that program thingy. I do not have any sound enhancement effects on. |
