I tried to copy a new version of berzerk, but since the prg is too large I cannot copy it to the disk using VICE(?out of memory error). How do I solve this? _________________ |

Need more info on the hardware/software setup please. Are you using an X1541 cable? Windows or Unix? Which Commodore drive are you using? etc etc.
Lite
EDIT: Of course by Unix I meant Linux. Does that date me? _________________ When a Silent Cat speaks...

More information is required. How many blocks? How did you try and "copy"? Did you use a file copy tool? Since you're working with an emulator, are you trying to put a ".prg" into a ".d64"? If so, you can do that using c1541 (command tool outside the emulator). |

I loaded the .d64 into the emulator. Then I loaded the program in memory, but when I tried to save it I get ?out of memory error. The prg is 155 blocks large, so that's just over the basic bytes limit.
Edit: Using a xm1541 cable btw. _________________ |

Use openCBM(Linux) or CBM4Win(windows)
http://sta.c64.org/winprg.html
You can use gui4cbm if you prefer the graphic interface.
As you will have to copy the entire disk you can use
DirMaster http://style64.org/
or
d64 editor http://www.d64editor.com/
to move single file programs onto one disk and save swapping later.
The Load/save option never worked much on the original hardware either (Hence the plethora of copy and backup software)

"Why copy inside an emulator" ?
I load the files into the emulator and using a special cable I transfer them to a real 1541 diskdrive.
Edit: Ah it might not have been clear that I want to copy the files FROM a d64 TO a floppy _________________ |

ok. now forget the idea of using the emulator for that purpose and use the dedicated tools for this special cable (its something that works with opencbm, i guess?). it'll be faster and also more convinient _________________

Yeah, but I tried openCBM, but it just freezes. Maybe I have to run it in DOS. Windows 7 is not exactely the way to go. _________________ |

Yes. I'm well aware of that, but those commandline programs that came with it don't work with win7. _________________

That's funny. I just used OpenCBM on win7 the other day.
What PC->1541 cable are you using? What command line program, d64copy? |

What kind of compatibility settings should I alter? _________________ |

I down load games from Arnold.c64.org Its a pub and has a section of games with a auto loader that works on ccsforever and loads which ever large program I want to play. IT has 100s of disk and I find the games save on many disk. I save the disks and load the one which has the program i want the loader puts up list of programs on the disk one push and it loads.
Nice and easy and great for people useing a vise program. I play many of my games on vise and it sit to the right of a working 64c..
