If you are interested in staying at the host hotel (Las Vegas Club), you should book through Hotels.com. It's the off season in Las Vegas during this time, and rooms are $26 per night... yes, really.

Any chance you might make an appearance at the VCF/ECCC expo in chicago in Sept? I know there are alot of retro guys using commodore as well as other retro systems that would be very interested in what all you bring to the table. Would love to meet you as well, but don't know that i can affort to make it to Commvex, though it would be a ton of fun.

I am not sure about the Chicago show. I will have to see how my schedule goes. Can you give me some info on the show?

Here's the vcf link. http://vcfmw.org/ Usually there is ECCC updates as well, but the vdf one currently has the latest update on dates/times. A good expo, this should be my 10th year of so of going. Was going the last few years when it was the SWRAP expo, the morphed into ECCC. A low key expo, but alot of the commodore developers in the US make an appearance, and alot of general geeky nerddom.

yes, you should go to the Chicago expo, it is bigger than commvex by several orders of magnitude.

I don't know yet. I still have a ways to go before it is done. At very least, I will be doing demos with it.

I'll be there. Just booked my hotel room. You weren't lying! $27 and change for a hotel room in Vegas. Damn! I paid $100 for a night in tiny room in Omaha last summer. I was upset then but I'm pissed now!

I'm a C4 Expo veteran but I recently broke out of the midwest and found myself on the west coast. This will be my first time at CommVex so be gentle!

I have never been to a retro conference before. I attended a lot of C64 and Amiga shows back in the day.

I can't imagine anything booked in Las Vegas, and running for 8 straight years is anything but huge! There will be people from all over the world attending this event. I really look forward to seeing a long line of computers like we had back in the old days in Portland, Oregon.

I'll be there too - I'll be showing a new hardware product (TBA).

CommVEx and ECCC are both good, but different in many ways. If you have the means and love Commodore, go to both.

Just talked to my buddy who lives in Vegas (since he was at my place here in Cali last night) and I'll be there. Going to stay with him.

Works out perfect.

Wondering if anyone will be performing services on site - like drive alignment or repairs etc. Never been to any type of Commodore show - so I have no idea what to expect.

Omnicron - should I bring my Chameleon? Maybe you can give me some tips on using it since I know very little about it? That would be great.

it is infact a rather small and puny event, compared to the annual demoparties in europe =)

True, it is not a demo party. But it is a convention chock-filled with presentations on various Commodore topics.

There's always little side things going on and the people who attend are superb and helpful. I'm sure someone can help with drive repairs, though I haven't seen anyone doing full-time on-site repairs.

It is definitely worth attending if you have the means.

I'll be there and plan to bring my rig. So on site I'll have my 1541U-II, Chameleon, Supercard+, parallel cable, & my PC with the Kryoflux installed.

Why not - it'll be fun!

Thanks for the info all!

hehehe mine opted out! She sees enough Commodore in the garage! hahaha

I tried to get her to go just because it's Vegas - but the hassle of finding a weekend sitter for the little one did not exactly thrill her.
