Hi, I have a C16 computer that has the black screen when turned on. I am not too good with knowing what chip in the C16 is bad. Would the TED chip be the culprit that would need to be replaced or would it be another chip?
Where can you purchase a TED chip or any others that would put my C16 back to life? |

Could be several things but the most frequent culprits are the TED (8360) or CPU (7501 or 8501.) They come up on ebay about once every few weeks and ususally go for around £10 mark. Your best bet is just to acquire another working one for spares. Working +4's and C16's are listed all the time.

Are there any TED chips still available? I have a C16 that has a blank screen still. I am hoping to get a replacement chip if at all possible. |

I will say, would be nice if they emulated the TED chip the way they did the PLA or SID chip in the 64. _________________ |

I see more SID chips on e-bay then TED chips... I just checked and currently there is none but there are SID chips. Really, you could by a Plus/4 or something and rip out the TED. However, would be nice to have a replacement FPGA design chip that would fail less then the current TED chip. _________________ |

"Your ebay fu is weak old man"
Recently ended, some unsold:

Yes, there's far more SID's given the number in circulation and the demand is still there so there's many on ebay etc. I concur with buying a defective C16 or +4 as the best route to getting one though. There's a better than even's chance that the TED would be good as the CPU is just as unreliable and you then get all the other spares.
I'd also like to see a plug in replacement as I'm fond of the machine but I just can't see it happening as the demand isn't there.

Darn E-Bay. Not showing anything on the Completed in the US E-Bay. However, it says world wide the completed links you have. Interesting. WTH? The active ones also don't show up Even if I do COMMODORE 8360 or MOS (8360,8360R2).
EDIT: I see. It now defaults to Ebay.com. You have to manually select Worldwide now. Would of been nice to know e-bay. I probably missed some really cool stuff.
Still what I said also stays true. The TED is a problematic chip. It would be nice to have a FGPA one for down the road. _________________ |

Hi there folks, I need 5 ted chips and 5 CPUs for the commodore plus 4. If someone can source these I am willing to pay good money. |
