http://www.lemon64.com/games/v...gameID=148

I did send a private message, no reply and more 10 and 1 votes.

Its a choice, game the voting system and try and get your fav's in the top 10 or give a considered evaluation others can use to decide which games to look at.

Cheers

Dan

How on earth can any one of those games get a 1?!?! Is it because he doesn't like his not getting higher votes I take it?

Yeah, it's how the voting system has been "abused" before and generally gets sorted due to silly allocations of 1 rated votes.

There was a guy by the same handle who screwed the ratings on zzap64.co.uk (iain's site) too. He was especially productive of 0% votes against Armalyte there. What can I say. Confused

That's fair enough, maybe not based on playing it or perhaps he's just really bad at games Smile

It's about gaming the voting system, only voting 10 and 1 isn't giving an opinion, unless you think that games are either brilliant or absolute crap...I guess it's possible someone might have that as their opinion, just seems very unlikely.

Then there's the fact only one game got marked back down again...

Cheers

It sounds dubious... Agreed, but what can be done? Confused

There's also the chance that some vote for the games they liked, not all the games they played - hence the all high votes. Strange that only 1 game would get a zero vote then - obviously.

Another strange thing; I see several who has voted on every game in the database - what are the chance that someone actually played ALL the games (fairly) - sure, it's possible - but not very likely. By checking the scores on each game it seems more random than an person actually having a preference of some sort.

Who plays ALL the adventures in the database, ALL action games, ALL strategy games, etc.? Shocked

Chances that someone wants to be THE ONE with highest score is more plausible than him/her being an all-round gameplayer.

Just sayin'....

Well he states "Horrible One button controls!" for Mayhem In Monsterland. I'm not sure what he was expecting for a C64 with a 1 firebuton joystick, unless he loves getting bad foot cramp by using his big toe for the spacebar.

Armalye 1/10? OK, personally I feel that the game was a little over-rated, I'd give it 7/10 at best. Maybe I just grew a little tired of the genre by then, but 1/10 ??? Confused

This policy gets my vote. If I am allowed to cast it Wink

Seriously though. There will always be haters, downvoting. It says more about the person than the game. You could normalise the results from each game by discarding the bottom 5 and top 5 votes or bottom and top 5%.

Those suggestions sound strangely familiar...

I would not mark a game down just because it's not my fave genre. Some people are idiot's.

Nothing is fool proof, but I guess a lot of those votes are from people who are not regular forum users. Maybe you should only be allowed to vote once you get a 100 post count or something along those lines?

Or 5 vote credits for every post. Seeing as you posts do not count in Chit Chat, you will only get ones who are contributing to the Commodore threads.

Looks less like marking it down for the genre and more for it being published by Thalamus.

Personally, I won't mark a game down unless there's a genuine gripe about it which I think could be avoided - just because the game isn't my cup of tea isn't reason enough. I'm not a fan of Armalyte at all (it's one of my least-favourite shooters on the system!) but I've simply not voted, and if I did, I would probably give it a 5 because I could poke holes in it - but not enough to give it less than that.

Ah yes, all marked down (when I originally brough this up he had voted them all 1)

I'd be very interested in what you'd change about it! If you have the time?
Maybe a different topic Smile

Cheers

It must be really bizarre, to only see the world in shades of only black or white.

If you take a look at his profile, he/she states he/she is a student, so it's obviously not someone, who knows the games from his/her childhood. Maybe it's a good idea to calm down a bit and be a little bit more pardoning to this one person.
btw: I've seen a lot of persons voting this way on lemonamiga, getting their personal favourites higher in the top 100 list, by voting down the games ranking one or two positions higher. I don't see the point, but everyone has his own hobbies.

Voting polls online never really work because they're not subjective. I mean, it could be far worse; look at those stupid annual GameFAQs character battle thingies where people just rig up heaps of bots or cycle their IPs to vote for stuff.

Armalye is like Mayhem in Monsterland. It is take C64 gaming to the next level in term of quality, special technical.Gameplay is also great with 2-player support.Game blows away many similar games in 80th on NES in my opinion.

Anyone who thinks otherwise ,go and play Pokemons!
